Held biennially, Avalon Australian International Airshow 2025 will be the sixteenth airshow and exposition staged at Geelong’s Avalon Airport. Heading back to the local airport from 25 – 30 March, Avalon Australian International Airshow is the largest airshow in the Southern Hemisphere. The three-day aviation event showcases spectacular military and civil aerial displays, the aerospace industry, aviation careers and family entertainment.
The Avalon Australian International Airshow is a global business, defence and aviation event, attracting senior aerospace, defence and civil aviation industry, military and government decision-makers from around the world. The international airshow will be held at Geelong's Avalon Airport from 25-30 March 2025, with an industry-only tradeshow from 25-28 March, and a public airshow from 28-30 March. Avalon attracted around 248,000 attendees in 2023, including over 280 official delegations from 28 countries. This included a WA delegation made up of 23 Co-exhibitors and Rovers, two of which made major collaboration announcements at the event.
A Showcase for Western Australian Industries
The WA Government is inviting small to medium enterprises from the defence and space sectors to submit an expression of interest to attend Avalon 2025 as either a Co-exhibitor or Rover. As stated by Defence Industry Minister Paul Papalia: "Western Australia's defence industry continues to grow, and through the AUKUS agreement, there are more opportunities than ever for our local SMEs." He further emphasized, "In 2023, 23 WA companies attended Avalon and had the opportunity to showcase their products and capabilities to senior civil aviation, aerospace, space, defence industry, military and senior government personnel from around the world." He concluded by saying, "Western Australia's representation at Avalon is a massive opportunity for our local defence and space industries, and I encourage SMEs interested in attending to submit an EOI."
Opportunities for Space Industry Growth
Science Minister Stephen Dawson echoed the sentiment, stating, "Our local space industry is expected to grow rapidly in the future, and the opportunity to attend Avalon will put our State's capabilities onto the world stage." He further added, "We are home to significant space infrastructure for both civil and defence applications and continue to lead the nation in our capabilities. Through opportunities just like this, the Cook Government remains committed to supporting our defence and space industries to help diversify our state's economy and create more jobs for Western Australians."
Avalon 2025: An Enhanced Experience
Taking on customer experience feedback, Avalon 2025 will bring back an adrenaline favourite for fans with public viewing on the flightline allowed again. In addition, Avalon 2025 will make getting to and from the highlight calendar event easy. They have introduced park & ride to make travel between the show easy. With two easy locations, customers are able to park in carparks in either Geelong or Melbourne and jump on a bus to be taken directly into the show grounds. Eager show goers can also grab parking tickets with the purchase of their general admission ticket.
Adding to the on-site action, Avalon 2025 will expand their exhibition offering, growing from three halls to four showcasing aviation, aerospace and defence industry, technology and capabilities from around the globe. Finally, the entertainment value on offer for Avalon 2025 has had an upgrade. With facility improvements across the site, the event is able to host additional exciting entertainment and aircrafts with announcements to come. That’s in addition to the old favourite free carnival rides for children and young and old!

Success Stories from Avalon 2023
Two of the WA companies that participated in Avalon 2023 as Co-exhibitors and Rovers made major collaboration announcements at the event. Aerospace company Innovaero announced a strategic partnership with BAE Systems Australia to design, develop and launch the STRIX drone. The STRIX drone is a high-altitude, long-endurance uncrewed aerial vehicle designed for various applications, including surveillance and reconnaissance. While communications company Blacktree Technology announced a collaboration with Airbus Defence and Space. The Perth-based company will provide the ground segment for the Airbus-funded UHF military communications-hosted payload on board a commercial telecommunications satellite manufactured by Airbus.
