Tunde Ayeni Denies Paternity, Labels DNA Certificate as 'Fake'

The ongoing paternity dispute between businessman Dr. Tunde Ayeni and Abuja-based lawyer Adaobi Alagwu has taken another dramatic turn. Ayeni has vehemently denounced a DNA certificate presented by Alagwu, asserting that it is not only unreliable but outrightly fabricated. This explosive revelation has ignited a fiery legal battle that’s captivating the nation's attention and prompting intense public scrutiny.

The Allegations and the Counterclaims

Alagwu maintains that Ayeni is the father of her child, born in the United States in 2022, claiming a relationship between them in 2019. A DNA test conducted at the DNA Diagnostics Center (DDC) in London on April 11, 2023, reported a staggering “99.9999997% probability of paternity” for Ayeni. However, Ayeni firmly refutes these claims, insisting that he is in no way connected to the child. He insists he “is not in any way connected to the child”.

Ayeni's Assertions of Fraud

In a press release, Ayeni meticulously details his reasons for distrusting the DNA certificate’s authenticity. He highlights a series of irregularities that raise serious doubts about the integrity of the testing process. These include an unexpected delay in receiving the results, a suspicious letter purportedly from the testing centre extending the delivery date (which the centre itself denied), and the discovery that his email account had been compromised around the time the results were expected.

Ayeni’s statement reads: “This lady is being clever by half. She is haunted by her reckless past and is truly desperate. It is this desperation that is pushing her on this journey to infamy and ultimate disgrace.” He further asserts that these inconsistencies strongly suggest that the process has been tampered with and the results cannot be considered genuine. He stated: “When I say the certificate is fake, it is a position informed by indisputable facts.”

Email Compromise and Irregularities

The alleged compromise of Ayeni’s email, he claims, is not coincidental; it occurred precisely when the DNA results were anticipated, further fueling his belief in foul play. He has publicly stated that his position is not based on mere suspicion but on “indisputable facts”. The unauthorized access to his email and the discrepancies in the timing of the results’ release have shaken his confidence in the entire process, prompting his strong stance against the certificate’s validity.

Legal Recourse and Ongoing Battle

The legal battle is far from over. Ayeni’s legal team has initiated legal action to challenge the authenticity of the DNA test and address the alleged blackmail and cyber-attacks. The case, initially heard on February 11, 2025, was adjourned to February 17th to allow for a new petition to be served and for Alagwu's response. The court has acknowledged the return of the dowry previously paid. The court proceedings highlight the ongoing tension and the determination of both parties to see their positions upheld.

A Public Spectacle and Ethical Considerations

This high-profile case raises significant questions about the reliability of DNA testing, data security and the ethical implications of publicly airing sensitive personal matters. Ayeni's allegations of hacking and manipulation necessitate careful investigation, while legal experts warn against the dissemination of potentially inaccurate or misleading information. The case presents a complex web of accusations and counter-accusations, urging caution and respect for legal processes.

The Fallout and Future Developments

The impact of this public spectacle extends beyond the immediate parties involved. It underscores the complexities of paternity disputes and the importance of due process. As the legal proceedings continue, the public awaits the unfolding of evidence, legal arguments and ultimately, a resolution. The outcome will not only shape the immediate lives of Ayeni and Alagwu, but may also set legal precedents for future cases involving similar complexities. The next court hearing is crucial in determining the course of this intricate legal battle. The eyes of many remain fixed on the case, anticipating the eventual truth.

This high-stakes drama highlights the vulnerabilities of digital information in today's world and serves as a reminder of the importance of verifying information before disseminating it publicly. The legal fight continues, and only time will tell how the situation will ultimately resolve itself.
