Most Celtic fans wanted to see the club bring back Adam Idah this summer and the Hoops certainly did that. They are believed to have shelled out an initial £8.5 million transfer fee plus another £1 million in potential add-ons to sign the Irish striker from Norwich City after his successful half-season loan spell at Parkhead.
Idah was truly brilliant while on loan at Celtic. He scored 9 goals for the club including the Scottish Cup winner against the Rangers at Hampden Park in the last game of the season.
Idah has looked a bit off the pace so far this season though. His performances for the Republic of Ireland during the recent international break have faced quite a bit of criticism as well.
Of course, these are still early days and one cannot overlook the fact that Idah was a late summer arrival for Celtic. It is only natural for him to take some time to adjust and find his rhythm.
McAvennie Calls For Patience With Idah
Frank McAvennie feels that Idah does not look fit right now. As reported by Football Insider, the former Celtic player said:
“He doesn’t look fit, I think Brendan will get him fit.“He looked a lot sharper last year than what he does now, even when he was playing for the Republic of Ireland, I saw his touch, I thought he was not holding the ball up as well as he does.“I don’t know if he’s got problems, or if there is other things happening, but he’s got to get his mind on it.“There is no doubting how good he is, we all know how good he is and what he can do in a Celtic jersey and an Irish jersey.”
McAvennie also told Idah what he needs to do moving forward and when we will see his best:
Idah might very well be one of those players who take some time to get to their best at the start of the season. But once they do, they are as good as ever.
Celtic fans have already witnessed how good Idah can be when playing at his best. He was one of the key reasons the club were able to turn their shaky season around and finish it with a Premiership and Scottish Cup double.
Hopefully, we get to see more of the same this season as well. For that to happen, Celtic will need Idah at his best and as soon as possible.
Idah Will Come Good, Says Fans
Yes, it’s true that Adam Idah hasn’t had the best of starts since his reported £9.5 million move to Celtic. The Irish international has looked a big sluggish and off the pace it has to be said, and that form seemed to more evident over the weekend for his country in the Nations League tie against England.
However before everyone starts getting on his back, don’t fret as he’ll come good after having a few more games under his belt. Adam missed the Celtic pre-season, he’s a big guy and needs time to get himself back to the fitness levels he was at during his loan spell at Celtic. He is perhaps carrying a few pounds too many but that will get sorted at Lennoxtown and Kyogo will start until he’s fully up to speed.
Adam proved last year what a talented player he was and was one of the main reasons behind our double success. And just his fitness, the form that made him a favourite amongst the Celtic supporters will come back, of that I have no doubt. He just needs a bit of time to get up to speed.
This international break will have done him the world of good fitness wise, and give him some much needed game time in a bid to get his sharpness back. What he doesn’t need is the support getting on his back, as often happened at Norwich City. When he had the Celtic support fully behind him he repaid that support with rich dividends. Let’s not forget that. And remember too that he was personally selected to play for Celtic by Brendan Rodgers whose viewpoint was backed by the Celtic Board in sanctioning such a large transfer fee.
Fans Have No Doubt Idah Will Come Good
When you consider the observation from Hagi Bhoy on Kerrydale Street and if you take the numbers out if it, trading Oh, Mikey Johnston and Bosun Lawal for a striker who helped win the league and scored the 90th winner in the Scottish Cup final against theRangers is a clever trade.
Adam will come back fitter and raring to go, and ready to play his part as we bid to have yet more success this campaign. Next week he will be looking to play his part in a Champions League match for the first time and usually on the big occasions for Celtic he delivers.
Here’s Hagi Bhoy’s post, it’s hard to disagree with a word of this…
“We sold Oh, MJ and Lawal for the price of Idah. I’m happy with that trade.”
People have zero patience and short memories these days. The big man will be fine and in the meantime Kyogo is looking terrific so far this season.
Adam Idah has been a popular player amongst the Celtic fans and has shown glimpses of his talent this season. With a bit of time and patience, he is expected to be a key player for the Hoops in the coming seasons. This should be a cause for optimism for Celtic fans and they can be confident that Idah will come good. Celtic fans are eagerly awaiting the day Idah gets back to his best and becomes a regular goalscorer for the club. This should be a very exciting season for Celtic fans and Idah could be a key part of their success. He is a young player with a lot of potential and Celtic fans will be hoping that he can fulfill that potential. Idah will need to adjust to the demands of the Scottish Premier League and the pressure of playing for Celtic. This is something that can take time. It is important for Celtic fans to be patient with Idah. He has already shown that he can be a valuable asset to the team. He will need time to find his rhythm and form. With the support of his teammates and the Celtic fans, he can achieve great things at Celtic.
