Actor Chloe Grace Moretz has come out as gay in an emotional post supporting Kamala Harris in the upcoming US presidential election. The 27-year-old, best known for her roles in the Kick-Ass films, wrote in a post on Instagram that she was throwing her support behind the Democratic candidate.

Sharing a picture of her ‘I voted early’ sticker, Moretz referenced women’s rights and protection for the LGBTQ+ community as the reasons she would be supporting Harris, urging her followers to do the same.

She said: “I voted early and I voted for Kamala Harris. There is so much on the line this election. I believe the government has no right over my body as a woman, and that the decisions over my body should come ONLY from myself and my doctor.”

Moretz went on to say that she believes Harris “will protect that for us”, continuing: “I believe in the need for legal protections that protects the LGBTQ+ community as a gay woman.”

“We need protections in this country and to have access to the care we need and deserve.

“SO… Are you voting early? Let’s get a plan together to get to your polling place with your friends! Go to IWillVote.com to figure out the best plan for you.”

This is the first time that Moretz – who has also appeared in films such as The Equalizer, 500 Days of Summer, and Neighbors 2 – has publicly come out as gay.

From 2014 to 2018, she was in a relationship with Brooklyn Beckham, but since 2018, Moretz has been romantically linked with model Kate Harrison.

The pair often appeared on each others Instagram feeds, and earlier this year Moretz posted a video online of her at a wedding with Harrison.

Dozens of high-profile celebrities have endorsed Harris in the lead-up to the election, which has been labelled as the biggest in US history by some.

In recent weeks, the likes of LeBron James, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Springsteen and the stars of Marvel’s Avengers have all urged people to vote Democrat at the election.

Whilst polling day is on Tuesday, November 5, millions of Americans have already cast their votes through postal voting and early voting.
