The wait is finally over! The Dancing With the Stars Season 33 cast was announced on September 4, 2024, on Good Morning America. Find out which of your favorite stars and pros will compete for the Mirrorball trophy this fall on DWTS.
Dancing With the Stars, ABC's long-running dance competition that premiered in June 2005, is set to return for Season 33 on September 17 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC and Disney+. Alfonso Ribeiro and Julianne Hough will co-host once again, and Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli, and Derek Hough will return as judges.
Stephen Nedoroscik, who won the nation’s hearts at the 2024 Paris Olympics by helping Team USA secure a bronze medal, was announced as the first celebrity contestant for Season 33 in late August. “I’m very excited,” the gymnast said on GMA, adding that he answered “yes” to the opportunity to be compete in the ballroom right away.
Leading up to the cast announcement, pro dancer Witney Carson confirmed she was returning to DWTS as a pro in a video for Good Morning America on August 29, 2024. Former pros like Artem Chigvintsev (who was recently arrested for domestic violence), Peta Murgatroyd, and Lindsay Arnold will not be appearing on the show this season.
Last week, Arnold shared with me over Zoom that she’s focused on spending time with her family and two daughters but hasn’t ruled out a possible return in the future. “I’ve always said from the second I stepped away it’s never a goodbye,” the Utah native. “We’ve got a lot of crazy things on the schedule, and I just love having this time with them, soaking up every moment.” Instead, she’ll be cheering on her sister Rylee Arnold from the sidelines as she returns for her second year as a pro.
