Jaw-dropping cliffs and fashion launches aren’t quite how PR agent Billy Daniels would describe growing up in Perth’s northern suburbs, but the cast member of Seven’s new reality show Made in Bondi is proud to showcase his A-list Sydneysider life.

The first episode — airing on Tuesday night — will unveil the enviable lifestyles of the East Coast’s young elite, spotlighting the iconic Australian borough’s exclusive party scene and rugged beauty.

Recalling his youth growing up in Hillarys as a beach nipper and St Mark’s student, Daniels admitted his newfound “cosmopolitan life” is worlds away from his West Coast childhood.

A move to London early in his career exposed the 32-year-old to a change of pace — and one he’s adopted since.

“I love being in the city. I love eating at the best restaurants. That’s the space that I work in now, and the people that I work with,” he said.

“Sydney is just the perfect city for that.”

Despite fitting seamlessly into Bondi’s picturesque backdrop, Daniels revealed he’s the only personality who didn’t technically apply to be on the show.

The PR pro has his stylist-to-the-stars mate Paul Versace to thank, with the two forming a close bond through Sydney’s Fashion Week and other glamourous shared interests.

“He was part of the cast, and he and I just had some organic work together that ended up overlapping with the show, and then the producers spoke to me, and I ended up being involved,” he admitted.

“So I didn’t do any of the casting.”

While he believes his career and personality come across authentically on the show, Daniels said others loved to act up in front of the cameras.

“I think some other people on the cast, they’re a bit more keen for attention, and I think they’ll go the extra mile to do things,” Daniels said.

Model and former Perth private school girl Isabella Cicero is another WA personality to make a splash in Sydney, with the two go-getters linking up following production.

“I didn’t even realise she was from Perth originally,” Daniels said, suggesting they’ve become “friends in real life” and regularly work together.

Pushed to compare a worthy corner of his hometown to Bondi’s stunning landscapes and mystique, the entrepreneur put his marketing skills to the test.

“I want to say Mosman Park, but that’s so not a sexy name for a show,” he joked. “So I’d say: Made in Peppermint Grove.”

Reflecting on society’s perceived love to hate his wealthy counterparts, Daniels considered why those fenced off from the one per cent’s gene pool might be so intrigued by it.

Because of course, he didn’t grow up with them.

“There’s an element of aspiration to it,” he said.

“It’s not the people per se, but it’s that lifestyle, the beautiful restaurants, the beautiful areas to live in, having that freedom to pursue what you really want to do in life.”

Daniels suggested he’ll offer “comic relief” to break the tension on screen, and is staying well clear of relationship drama despite its stranglehold over younger cast members.

As for what viewers can expect, Made in Bondi promises to offer all the opulence and sex appeal of its older Made in Chelsea sibling.

Or as Daniels simplifies, it’s “dramatic, funny, and beautiful”.

“Everyone’s hot.”

Watch Made in Bondi every Tuesday night at 9pm on 7 and 7plus.

The series from the producers of Made in Chelsea is co-produced by Matchbox Pictures and Monkey for Seven Network and Channel 4.

In episode one, jewellery designer and Eastern Suburbs princess Emma is gearing up for her latest product launch with her brand, Emma Pills, and everyone is invited to her opulent harbour-side mansion.

Influencer Lachy is there with his friends, Harley and drop-dead gorgeous model Isabella.

Emma’s go-to Sydney stylist Paul and his ultra-fabulous friend, PR agent Billy, are there too.

Besties since childhood, Molly and Pippa are at Emma’s party waiting for Molly’s new model boyfriend, Lawson, to arrive.

Flanked by his wingman and restaurant heir, Charlie, Lawson wastes no time in planting a steamy kiss on Molly. It’s been three months since they last laid eyes on each other, and a pulsating chemistry is rekindled. But Lawson’s long-time ex, content creator Bella, is also there with her BFF Kayla, who clock the new couple and find it all a bit too much to take.

As a rumour swirls that Lawson is only “playing” with Molly, prompting tense conversations for the newly minted couple, will new romance survive Sydney’s summer?

The format is distributed globally by NBCUniversal Formats, which is also part of Universal International Studios, a division of Universal Studio Group. NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution handle international sales of the series.

Made in Bondi, a local version of UK reality series, premieres next week on Seven as it showcases the lives and loves of young socialites in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.

The cast includes a mix of mostly Australian and some British reality talent.

Made In Bondi will also star personal trainer Kayla Krug, 21, and luxe car sales agent Harley Christie, 31.

And you’re probably thinking, is anyone from Made in Chelsea jumping on? Well, you’re in luck ‘cos Tristan Phipps, 29, and Miles Nazaire, 28, are expected to make a cheeky appearance.

Made in Bondi will be making a splash on Australian screens from Tuesday, 20 August. The show will make its premiere at 9.00pm AEST sharp on Channel 7 and 7plus.

Channel 7 dropped the bomb during its 2024 programming event, per The Guardian Australia.

“From trendy bars to luxurious harbourside mansions, this group of young socialites will navigate the interconnected web of relationships that define their lives,” Seven announced, as per the publication.

I mean, I’m not surprised that Made in Chelsea finally has an Aussie spin-off. The Brits loved Made in Chelsea so much that it won a BAFTA award for Best Reality and Constructed Factual Programme in 2013.

That being said, I have a feeling that Aussie will either really love Made in Bondi or completely trash it.

Not to sound like a whole Debby downer, but how many damn shows do we need about rich hot people on the beach? We had Byron Baes and that flopped. We also had The Shire and that one went straight to floptropica.

I’m probably missing another one, but I’m seeing a pattern here with reality TV that follows the beach and “socialites”.

There’s only one person who can save this show… and that’s Anna Paul, but I doubt she’d jump since we watch her whole life through TikTok.

Wake me up when they drop Made in Bankstown. I will be watching and auditioning for a spot when they make that spin-off.

Made in Bondi premiers Tuesday, 20 August at 9pm on Channel 7 and 7plus.
