Dead by Daylight has released a blog post outlining some of the gameplay changes happening between the PTB and 8.2.0 update, including a list of updates to the Dark Lord himself. The Castlevania chapter is coming to Dead by Daylight later this month, and has been part of the test servers since earlier this month on August 6th to ensure things are running smoothly before the DLC is fully released into the game. Today, the Dead by Daylight developers at Behaviour Interactive have released a blog post outlining all of the gameplay changes happening between the Public Test Build (PTB) and live release of the 8.2.0 Update, including updates to the Dark Lord himself – Dracula.

The Killers and Perk changes listed in the blog post include:

The Dark Lord

The Dark Lord is getting a few tweaks to his Hellfire attack to improve its usability. The developers feel the changes to the charge time and movement speed will make the Hellfire attack smoother to use.

Dev note: The Hellfire attack proved to be useful on the PTB. We've fine-tuned the charge time and movement speed to improve the way it feels to use. This includes adjusting the deacceleration and reacceleration after canceling the attack to be smoother and not so sudden.

Dracula's wolf form is also getting an update as the developers found his wolf form to be too slow compared to his vampire form. They are increasing his wolf form's movement speed to match the Vampire Form.

Dev note: The Wolf form looked to need a bit more attention. For the release, we have increased the Wolf's base movement speed to 4.6m/s – the same as the Vampire Form. We've also reduced the Pounce attack's cooldown. While the Pounce attack is meant to be more difficult to use in tight spaces, we found it to be a bit too restrictive. To make it easier to position for the second Pounce, hitting a collision during the first Pounce will no longer end your Power.

The Nemesis

The Nemesis will receive a change to his Tentacle Strike, increasing its range in order to make him more deadly. While he is already useful, this range buff will help him be more dangerous when used correctly.

Dev note: The adjustments on the PTB definitely helped The Nemesis get up and running at the start of a trial, but many felt he could use a little more. We have made additional tweaks to his Tentacle Strike to make it even more deadly when used well.

The Knight

The Knight is seeing a significant buff in this update, with his three minions getting separate cooldowns. This is intended to change the way players use the Knight, encouraging players to choose the right minion for the right situation rather than always relying on the strongest minion. The Knight's perk, "Human Greed" is also getting a buff, with the cooldown being significantly reduced.

Dev note: Spawning a different guard while another was deployed was an unintended mechanic in the previous PTB, but it turned out to be loved by many. We found having guards on separate cooldowns encouraged switching between to the right guard in the right situation, meanwhile a shared cooldown encouraged using the single strongest guard. We have brought back separate cooldowns as a now intended feature and tuned them according to their strength and utility. This will give The Knight a boost in power and encourage swapping between guards.

Dev note: On the PTB, the cooldown for closing chests was quite long, so we have reduced it significantly.

Human Greed

The Trevor Belmont perk, Exultation, will be losing a feature that prevented players from keeping upgraded items at the end of trials. Now, survivors will get to keep the upgraded items that they risked their lives to get during the trial.

Dev note: Many people wanted to keep the Items they had risked their lives to upgrade, so we'll be removing this condition in a later update. Enjoy the spoils of your hard work.

This upcoming update to Dead by Daylight brings some exciting changes. With the Castlevania DLC becoming available to try out in live games soon, players will get to take on the roles of either Dracula as a killer or Trevor Belmont as a survivor. These characters bring a set of interesting new perks into the world of Dead by Daylight, alongside some great updates to existing killers and mechanics. Dead by Daylight's Castlevania DLC will be on the test servers starting today and will be fully released on August 27th.
