Out of all the horror properties Dead by Daylight fans have been asking for, there’s always been one that’s stood head and shoulders above the rest in terms of the loudness of the requests. It’s not Friday the 13th’s Jason, it’s not the classic version of Freddy from Nightmare on Elm Street – in fact it’s a different Freddy altogether. That’s right, fans have been wanting Five Nights at Freddy’s in DBD for years – and now it’s finally going to happen.

Announced as part of the Five Nights at Freddy’s 10th Anniversary celebrations via the Dead by Daylight X, formerly Twitter, account, it’s finally been confirmed that the two horror game series are set to smash into each other. Despite the confirmation and the overwhelming excitement in replies from DBD fans, there’s a catch. The team-up is dated for summer of 2025, meaning there’s a whole year to wait before this will actually happen.

Of course this just means there’s a year to build hype and make sure the collab is executed to perfection, and with plenty of stuff happening in the DBD universe until then, it’s not like fans won’t have plenty to get stuck into. For example, this all has been unveiled on the eve before the big Castlevania reveal – with fans still not sure who, or what, will be coming to the game.

In the meantime there’s going to be a lot of theorizing over the next year until more information is released. Already players are wondering if the Toreador March from Carmen will make an appearance, alongside Springtrap or Freddy himself as a potential killer. There’s a lot for fans to mull over, and a lot of time to do it in.

Is FNAF Coming to Fortnite? Or Is it a “Mismatch?”

Fans have been hoping to see Five Nights at Freddy's content in Fortnite for several years now, and there's sure to be a lot of disappointment if it doesn't happen. However, even if a Fortnite collaboration doesn't get announced, it's evident that Cawthon is a lot more open to collaborations than he was in the past; not only are we getting a mystery collaboration announcement tomorrow, but FNAF content will be in Funko Fusion. if these collaborations go well enough, perhaps it will open the door for more!

The Fortnite Community Remembers the Dream

Yeah, so those Five Nights at Freddy's teasers we've been seeing all over X? It's apparently for Dead by Daylight — not Fortnite.

For the past few days, leakers have been sharing teasers from the Five Nights at Freddy's account that seemed to be hinting at a cryptic gaming collaboration to be announced August 5 in the early evening. The automatic thought was that Five Nights was the thousandth IP to join the Fortnite universe. It would make sense since the announcement was coming a day before the big Fortnite update on August 6.

The Five Nights at Freddy's account told fans to keep an eye on "someone's" account earlier today, hinting that the announcement was coming — and that it would be on another game's X account. But which one?

When it was finally revealed that the collaboration was between FNAF and Dead By Daylight, the Fortnite community was unsurprisingly devastated. Gone was the "at least they know we care" vibe, with many declaring "the dream is dead" and saying "they lost." One fan even joked that Fortnite fans were on "suicide watch" after the announcement.

FNAF’s 10th Anniversary Celebration Continues

The surprises and announcements for the saga's 10th anniversary continue. The party for the 10th anniversary of Five Nights at Freddy's continues and Scott Cawthon has prepared another surprise for fans of his horror franchise. As announced a few days ago, today debuts a new project in the saga and it is available for free.

We're talking about Five Nights at Freddy's: VIP, an interactive novel created especially for the occasion. The publication offers an adventure where fans will have to make decisions to survive the horrors of Freddy Fazbear's Mega Pizzaplex.

A Killer Collab: What We Know So Far

It's unclear exactly what form this momentous collaboration will take, but it's happening in Summer 2025. With that timing in mind, it's likely to be a substantial collaboration that could include a new Five Nights at Freddy's-themed chapter in Dead by Daylight. Since the announcement was shared to the official Dead by Daylight Twitter account with an image that seems to reference The Dark Mist, it's a pretty safe bet that Dead by Daylight is getting some new content, but it remains to be seen whether the Five Nights at Freddy's series will be getting something Dead by Daylight-related.

Dead by Daylight has crossover content from some of the most iconic horror IP not only in video games but also in movies and TV, including Scream, Nightmare on Elm Street, Saw, Silent Hill, Hellraiser, and Stranger Things. Oh, and since Longlegs is looking like the horror movie of the year, I suppose I should mention the excellent Nic Cage DLC as well.

Five Nights at Freddy's, meanwhile, released its first movie adaptation in 2023 and made a bundle at the box office. A sequel starring Matthew Lillard has been confirmed as releasing in December 2025. And then there's that pixel art side-scrolling Five Nights at Freddy's game that leaked back in January, but we haven't heard a whole lot else about that.

The Future is (Not So) Bright

A Fortnite x Five Nights at Freddy's collaboration has been a dream that many players in the community have had for a long time. Fans have constantly expressed a desire to see the animatronics from the iconic horror franchise on the Battle Royale Island. This crossover has not come to the game despite constant hints and clues throughout the years. However, it seems like this could change soon.

New hints about Fortnite x Five Nights at Freddy's collaboration have surfaced. The Five Nights at Freddy's developers have recently been dropping clues about a secret collaboration to be released on August 6, 2024. While this is nothing out of the ordinary, the fact that Epic Games has an update planned on the same day makes things more interesting. The developers recently confirmed they will be releasing the Battle Bus LEGO Fortnite update on August 6, 2024.

While this does not confirm that the collaboration is in the works, the evidence does hint towards it. Especially since the team behind FNAF has not yet revealed the collaboration they are planning for August 6. The developers behind Five Nights at Freddy's have only referred to their announcement as a secret collaboration, potentially keeping it as a surprise for the fans.

The Hype is Real

FIVE Nights at Freddy’s has been hugely popular since its original release back in 2014, and the series is about to reach its 10-year anniversary. To celebrate the milestone, developer Scottgames has announced a week of updates with new releases and announcements for fans.

This includes a number of free goodies for fans, including a demo release for Five Laps at Freddy’s, an upcoming spin-off game. There will also be an interview with developer Scott Cawthorn, among other game and demo releases.

While most of the schedule is quite clear, there are two events which fans are trying to figure out. The first is a Steel Wool announcement scheduled for August 6. Steel Wool is the studio behind a number of FNAF spin-offs such as FNAF: Security Breach, and FNAF: Help Wanted. This announcement is expected to be either a new game in one of these series, or an update for one of the existing games.

The other mysterious event on the schedule is on August 5, when there will be a ‘??? collab announcement’. As soon as the schedule was revealed, fans immediately started speculating about what the other part of the FNAF collaboration would be. Dead by Daylight was one of the first suggestions, and it seems to fit the bill as a horror game known for a huge number of collaborations with different media. However, as there is an upcoming Dead by Daylight x Castlevania crossover, players think it’s unlikely that a FNAF collaboration would occur at the same time.

This has led people to speculate that the upcoming collaboration will be with Fortnite, which hosts a number of crossovers every month. There are a number of clues which have led people to believe that there will be a FNAF x Fortnite event. Firstly, Epic Games recently sent out a poll to Fortnite players asking which crossovers they would like to see. FNAF antagonist Freddy Fazbear was included in the list, which people think is the developer trying to gauge player’s excitement. The other clue is that Fortnite will be updated next week, the day after the mysterious collab announcement. Fortnite often discloses changes shortly before the update occurs, making the timing of this announcement perfect.

Of course, nothing has been confirmed either by Epic Games or Scottgames, so we will have to wait until August 5 to see the outcome.
