TV's Dr Ranj Singh was left gobsmacked on a celebrity special of Escape to the Country when host Denise Nurse revealed the staggering price tag of the mystery house. .

The fan-favourite BBC programme saw Denise Nurse pull out all the stops for Dr Ranj, who is widely recognised from his regular appearances on BBC One's Morning Live, as he sought to exchange the urban commotion for the tranquillity of rural living. .

Dr Ranj, also renowned as an on-screen paediatric emergency physician, had a budget of £550,000 for his idyllic country residence, insisting on a spacious, welcoming kitchen perfect for socialising. His detailed wishlist also called for multiple reception areas and at least a duo of bedrooms, not forgetting a dedicated office space and swift links to Manchester to maintain his television commitments.

Given his aversion to horticulture, a garden that demanded little in the way of upkeep was also high on his agenda. .

Denise led a series of property tours but it was a particular abode in the village of Greenmount, nestled within the West Pennine Moors land with deep-rooted ties to historical Lancashire - that truly captivated him, reports Wales Online.

Upon discovering that the property was none other than a castle, the celebrity doctor could scarcely conceal his elation. During a picturesque stroll up the driveway alongside a friend, he couldn't help but exclaim in awe: "Oh look at that! Oh, my word. Wow! It is a castle! Wow! I was impressed with the other places but this is something else."

The turret, once a functioning water tower, has undergone a complete transformation into a unique five-storey home.

During his time exploring the property, Dr Ranj struggled to contain his enthusiasm for every intricate detail. Venturing onto the outdoor rooftop terrace garden, the pair were greeted with sweeping views of the surrounding countryside.
