EastEnders' Reiss Colwell has been struggling to keep his killer secret hidden and it seems as though the murdering accountant is set to be exposed in a surprising turn of events.
EastEnders' newbie Teddy Mitchell is on the brink of discovering the truth about Debbie Colwell's murder in a shocking plot twist.
Sonia Fowler (played by Natalie Cassidy) was recently sent to prison on remand after being falsely accused of murdering her partner Reiss' comatose wife Debbie (Jenny Meier), who was in a care home following a stroke.
However, the real murderer is Reiss Colwell (Jonny Freeman) who suffocated his wife with a pillow to alleviate the financial strain of her care needs.
As his financial woes escalated, Reiss, who has been scamming Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean), Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden), and Eve Unwin (Heather Peace), has reluctantly agreed to work for Teddy Mitchell (Roland Manookian).
But in Tuesday's episode of the BBC soap (September 17), Teddy asked accountant Reiss to manipulate his accounts to make it appear as if he is broke, reports the Daily Star.
Yet, Reiss has been preoccupied with creating posters and a petition to highlight pregnant Sonia's innocence and secure her release from prison.
Now, Teddy has requested Reiss to conceal his wealth, even if it involves illegal activities, leaving him with no other option but to comply.
Meanwhile, Albert Square's rumour mill continues to churn out stories about Reiss and Debbie's murder, with some residents like Kim Fox (Tameka Empson) even refusing to sign his petition in case Sonia is indeed guilty.
However, Teddy wasn't swayed by Reiss' campaign and instead put the pressure on him to manage his accounts, informing Reiss that he urgently needed the books back as his solicitor was requesting them.
In an attempt to expedite the process, he proposes to assist Reiss in proving Sonia's innocence, but only if he can meet the deadline.
Teddy then assured Reiss that he could secure Sonia's release from prison by employing his private investigator who would reveal who was behind Debbie's death.
Reiss appeared uneasy at the prospect of Teddy's offer. Could Teddy be the one to uncover Reiss' deceit?
Reiss's Mounting Debt and His Deal with Teddy
Reiss's financial woes have been a major source of tension in the recent EastEnders storylines. His desperate attempts to relieve his financial burden led him to commit a horrific act – the murder of his wife Debbie. Reiss's debt to Phil Mitchell and Sharon Watts had put him in a difficult position, forcing him to make a deal with Teddy Mitchell. Teddy, in exchange for Reiss's accounting work, agreed to take over his debt, giving Reiss a temporary respite. However, Teddy's motives remain shrouded in mystery, leaving viewers wondering if he is genuinely helping Reiss or has his own agenda.
Teddy's True Intentions
While Teddy's offer to help Reiss prove Sonia's innocence seems like a generous gesture, the audience knows that Teddy is a cunning and manipulative individual. Teddy's request to hide his wealth suggests a dubious character and his eagerness to have his solicitor review his financial records is unsettling. Teddy's offer to employ a private investigator to uncover the truth behind Debbie's murder is suspicious, and the audience wonders if Teddy's true intention is to expose Reiss's crime and use it to his advantage.
The Stakes Are High
The stakes are high for both Reiss and Sonia as Teddy's investigation progresses. Reiss desperately wants to protect his own secret and maintain his freedom, while Sonia remains unjustly imprisoned, unaware of her fiancé's actions. If Teddy uncovers the truth about Debbie's murder, Reiss's world could be turned upside down. Will Teddy succeed in exposing Reiss's crime, or will Reiss manage to escape the consequences of his actions? Will Teddy be able to help Sonia, or will his intervention only serve to complicate the situation further? The audience is on the edge of their seats as they await the unfolding of this dramatic plot twist.
The Truth Will Out
EastEnders has a reputation for its dramatic storylines and shocking twists, and this latest development promises to shake things up in Albert Square. The truth about Debbie's murder is bound to come out, but it remains to be seen how it will unfold and what consequences it will have for those involved. Will Sonia be freed from prison? Will Reiss finally be caught? The audience will have to keep watching to find out.
