The 2024 MTV Video Music Awards are set to take place tonight (September 11) at UBS Arena on Long Island, and viewers can expect an impressive lineup of performers, including host Megan Thee Stallion, Katy Perry, and Eminem.

The ceremony, which begins at 8 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (5 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time), will be broadcasting live on MTV and will also be available on other Paramount-owned channels. The 2024 VMAs will be a celebration of some of the biggest names in the music industry, as well as a night of exciting performances and awards.

2024 VMAs Performers

The list of performers for this year’s VMAs includes some of the biggest names in the music industry, including pop superstars Chappell Roan and Sabrina Carpenter, in addition to Halsey, Megan Thee Stallion (who is also this year’s host, as well as a nominee), Lenny Kravitz, Shawn Mendes, Rauw Alejandro, LL Cool J, Karol G, GloRilla, Anitta, Benson Boone, and Lisa.

In addition to the main stage, MTV has also tapped Teddy Swims and Jessie Murph to make their VMAs debut with performances on the Extended Play Stage, while K-pop group Le Sserafim is booked for the pre-show, marking the girls’ first-ever showcase at a U.S. award show. MTV has also tapped quite a few familiar faces to present at the ceremony, including Addison Rae, Chicken Shop Date’s Amelia Dimoldenberg, Big Sean, Flavor Flav, Lil Nas X, Big Sean and more.

## Eminem’s Performance

The rap icon – real name Marshall Mathers – earned eight nominations at this year’s VMAs, including video of the year, best hip-hop, best direction, best editing, best visual effects and song of summer (for “Houdini”).  Eminem is currently tied with Peter Gabriel for the most VMA wins by a solo male artist in show history; so he could potentially break that record with just one win this year. He also holds the record for most wins by a rap artist with 13 VMAs and is the second most nominated artist in VMAs history with 67 nods.

Eminem will be opening the ceremony with a performance of his new song, “The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce).” The song is from his latest album, “The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce), which was released in July and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. The album’s lead single, “Houdini,” reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Katy Perry’s Video Vanguard Award

Katy Perry will be receiving this year’s Video Vanguard Award at the 2024 VMAs. Perry, 39, will also perform a medley of her biggest hits, which will surely be a highlight of the show. The Video Vanguard Award is given to artists who have made a lasting impact on music videos. The 2024 award will follow in the footsteps of last year’s recipient, Shakira, who delivered a fiery medley of some of her biggest hits.

2024 VMAs Nominations

The VMAs recognize the most impressive music videos in different categories, such as best collaboration, best pop and best hip-hop. Viewers will soon find out who will walk away with some of the top awards this year, like video of the year, artist of the year and song of the year.

The nominations for this year’s awards were announced in August, and they reflect the diverse and exciting landscape of music today. Taylor Swift and Post Malone are leading the pack with the most nominations. Swift scored 10 nominations while Malone closely followed with nine. Ariana Grande, Sabrina Carpenter and Eminem earned six nominations each. The list also includes 29 first-time nominees.
