On Wednesday’s episode of Escape to the Country, expert Margherita Taylor decided to take a bit of a detour during her house search. After showing couple Ronnie and Claire two homes in Bedfordshire, they took a break from their property hunt.
During the repeated episode, BBC viewers learnt that the couple were “self-confessed” foodies who enjoy cooking with local produce. Before showing them the mystery house, Margherita took them to Love My Chillies farm.
Speaking to owner Salvatore Genovese, he allowed Ronnie and Claire to sample some of their produce. Explaining they had a chilli called Armageddon, Claire laughed before saying: “Ronnie will love it! It just scares me to look at it.”
With over 10 different varieties, the trio braved some which Salvatore had laid out for them, alongside a glass of milk on standby. Starting with the mildest, all seemed ok with the heat.

Going up one level, the BBC star said: “I think I’m out there! That’s me.”
Claire also decided to bow out, although Ronnie braved one more.
Laughing, Margherita said: “Speechless! Oh here, milk, milk!”

Claire continued to laugh as Ronnie took a huge gulp of milk to ease the spice sensation.
The BBC host added: “Oh my goodness, are you shaking?!”
As Salvatore wished the couple well with their house hunting, Ronnie let out a huge cough, with the spice continuing to affect him.
Looking around, he said: “Another milk!”
Getting back on their search, they were shown the final mystery house in the large village of Wooton.
Escape to the Country is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
