Heinz Organic Baked Beans: Discontinued After Fans Say They Were 'The Best'
Bean lovers have been left heartbroken after Heinz confirmed one of its fan-favourite products has been discontinued. The organic range from Heinz, in particular their Heinz Organic Baked Beans, have been loved by many. Lately, these products have been notably absent from most leading supermarkets begging the question, where have they gone?
Consumers felt so passionately about the struggle to get their hands on these products they were compelled to take to social media to get to the bottom of it. One user wrote: “Out of curiosity, have the Organic Baked Beanz been withdrawn? No one selling them any more in Northern Ireland.
“Got all excited when I found them still listed on the website and told me I could buy them online, but no - not there either”. The company has now confirmed they have discontinued Heinz Organic Baked Beanz after doing the same with Heinz Ploughman’s Pickle. After various questions on X, a Heinz spokesperson simply replied that ‘this product has now been discontinued’.
The spokesperson added: “At Heinz we’re focused on innovating to meet changing culinary trends and tastes and sometimes that means making small changes to our portfolio. These are always considered with the consumer in mind.”
Why Have They Been Discontinued?
Kraft Heinz has now confirmed the decision to discontinue the baked beans product came as a result of “changing culinary trends”. Fans of the beans even lashed out at Amanda, the poor spokesperson who revealed the beans had gotten the boot.
“Amanda, you’re a mouthpiece for the devil,” claimed @GZJohnsonGZ.
Fans React to the News
Lovers of the healthy baked bean flooded social media after learning the product had been cut from Heinz’s portfolio. “BRING BACK ORGANIC BEANS,” one angry X user said. “They were the BEST.” This comes after Walkers crisps unveiled three new sarnie-inspired flavours - Sausage Sarnie and Heinz Ketchup, Roast Chicken and Heinz Mayo, and Cheese Toastie with Heinz Beanz. The new flavours have come from a collaboration between Walkers and Heinz and will be available for a limited time only. An initial poll on X, formerly Twitter, found consumers were most excited to taste the cheese toastie flavour.
Heinz Discontinuation Spree
Heinz isn’t the only big-name brand to have discontinued products in 2024. The likes of Walkers Crisps, Nestle and even supermarket giant Aldi have also axed products in the past 12 months. Walkers revealed earlier this year it had stopped making Marmite-flavoured crisps. This came after the likes of Salt and Vinegar Quavers, Worcester sauce flavour and Max Strong Hotsauce Blaze crisps were axed from its range at the back end of 2023.
Nestle, in February (2024), revealed it was cutting Breakaway and Yorkie biscuit bars from its range of products. Before fans, over the last few months, learnt the confectionary company’s limited edition Yorkie Orange chocolate bar and Rowntree’s Randoms Squidgy Swirls have also been discontinued.
Meanwhile, Aldi was forced to apologise recently after confirming its Village Bakery Seeded Medium Sliced Loaf had been discontinued in what shoppers labelled “sad news”.
Not the Only Product to Go
Heinz is known for a range of different products including various sauces, soups and baked beans. The latest edition to the Heinz range is its tinned Spaghetti Carbonara, the release of which divided fans. Some fans described the new Spaghetti Carbonara as an “abomination” while others exclaimed, “love a pasta in a tin”.
But it has not been all good news for Heinz fans in 2024. In August the company confirmed they had discontinued Heinz Ploughman’s Pickle. Now fans have learnt Heinz Organic Baked Beanz have also been axed from its range of products. Alongside Heinz’s Organic Baked Beanz and Ploughman’s Pickle, their Weight Watchers beans have also been discontinued.
Heinz: A Brand Loved by Many
Heinz is an American company and boasts a vast range of products including foods, condiments and sauces. Heinz is a brand loved by many and is a firm favourite among both young and old. And Britain's fascination with baked beans has seen the brand rise to popularity with most households having at least one Heinz product in their pantry. The brand's clever use of marketing of baked beans as a go-to ready meal for busy folks put them in a league of their own. Originally the baked beans recipe saw chunks of pork in the tin but during World War II pork was removed due to rationing and thus the iconic Heinz baked beans were developed.
Final Thoughts
We all hate to see our favourite foodie items disappear, and over the last few months it’s safe to say we’ve lost some cracking products. Many fans of their products are now raging after one of its much-loved baked beans products are no more. This is not the first time that Heinz has discontinued a popular product. In 2023, they discontinued Heinz Ploughman's Pickle, which was met with similar outrage from fans. It seems that Heinz is making a concerted effort to innovate and meet changing culinary trends. However, this comes at the cost of losing some of its most beloved products. It remains to be seen whether Heinz will bring back any of its discontinued products. Only time will tell whether Heinz’s decision to discontinue Heinz Organic Baked Beanz will be a hit or a miss with consumers. What do you think about the discontinuation of Heinz Organic Baked Beanz?
