The BBC has finally confirmed when Industry season 3 will premiere in the UK. After dodging spoilers, indulging in teaser pictures and patiently waiting for season 3 of Industry to drop in the UK, the release date has officially been confirmed!
The drama, set in the harsh world of high finance, will be back on Tuesday, October 1. On that day, all eight episodes will be available on BBC iPlayer from 6am, while episode 1 airs on BBC One at 10.40pm.
Industry season 3 debuted on HBO in the US in August, and will wrap up there on Sunday, September 29.
A first look at the new season was released earlier this year, introducing Kit Harington as Henry Muck, a green tech company mogul who has been described as "the embodiment of old money privilege".
Episodes of the new season have already been airing for fans in the US, but those in the UK have had to bide their time, only knowing that the third instalment would air later this year on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. Season 3 sees Pierpoint looking to the future and taking a big bet on ethical investing.
Across the episodes, Yasmin (Marisa Abela), Robert (Harry Lawtey), and Eric (Ken Leung) find themselves front and centre in the splashy IPO of Lumi, a green tech energy company led by the British aristocrat Muck.
Writer and consulting producer Joseph Charlton has stated that season 3 of Industry will greatly expand its world, and give viewers something new to sink their teeth into. "The world is bigger in a way that I think… audiences will find surprising," Joseph teased. "The show isn't just repeating itself. It's going into new places, and I think it's seeing the entanglement of finance and sectors in other parts of the world and politics in a way that I think is really novel and interesting."
"We're kind of expanding out, and the frame's getting wider, and you're starting to see the bosses above those people, and then those bosses' bosses, and then how a big investment bank fits into the hierarchy of society more broadly than that." This expansion of the world is evident in the introduction of new characters, such as Sarah Goldberg who plays Petra Koenig, a portfolio manager at FutureDawn.
As per the synopsis: "Since leaving Pierpoint, Harper (Myha'la) is eager to get back into the addictive thrill of finance and finds an unlikely partner in FutureDawn portfolio manager Petra Koenig (Sarah Goldberg)."
With the release date now confirmed, it won't be long before UK fans return to the unrelenting world of high-finance.
But British fans of the much-loved financial drama Industry, made by BBC and HBO, have been left furious after the third season began airing in the US and not the UK. Season three debuted in America on 11 August, with the remaining episodes being released every Sunday evening until 29 September. As a result, UK fans have been voicing their disappointment over having to wait for season three on X.
One fan recently: 'More than a little miffed that, living in UK, I can't yet watch this joint BBC/HBO show, written by two Brits, with 75 per cent British cast and have to wait until some unspecified time for BBC to show it.' Another fumed: 'Imagine my surprise when I find out season three is already airing in the US but not here in the UK. It's literally a BBC show'.
A third added: 'I cannot believe Industry, a show set in London with so many British actors, premiered in the US two months before it premieres in the UK? We were episode for episode with America for Succession, but not this? If I see spoilers HBO, you will pay.'
Following the furious reaction from fans, The BBC have confirmed to FEMAIL that series three will reach UK screens next month - once all episodes have finished airing in the US.
A BBC spokesperson told MailOnline: 'Industry season three will arrive on BBC iPlayer and BBC One early next month. UK viewers can catch up on the first two seasons on BBC iPlayer now.'
The first season of Industry ran in the UK and US simultaneously, with episode one airing one day later in the UK in November 2020.
Set in the heart of Canary Wharf, the show centres on a group of ambitious young graduates and their attempts to forge a career in the fast-paced, cut-throat world of investment banking.
In season three, Pierpoint looks to the future and takes a big bet on ethical investing, as the company becomes involved with Lumi, a green tech energy company.
Game of Thrones star Kit Harrington takes the reins on the company, playing British aristocrat Lord Henry Muck, described as the embodiment of 'old money' privilege. Yasmin (Marisa Abela), Robert (Harry Lawtey), and Eric (Ken Leung) will find themselves front and centre in IPO of Lumi. Meanwhile, since leaving Pierpoint, Harper (Myha'la) is eager to get back into the addictive thrill of finance and finds an unlikely partner in FutureDawn portfolio manager Petra Koenig (Sarah Goldberg).
The show - which is created, written, and executively produced by Mickey Down and Konrad Kay - is a Bad Wolf Production for HBO and the BBC. British fans were put on the backburner for season two, waiting almost two months longer for the release, according to Virgin Radio. It's a scheduling difference that the show has followed for its third season, with the BBC not confirming a specific date for Industry series three to reach UK screens, despite it currently airing in America.
While the series continues to show steamy scenes, the BBC decided not to air a scene showing an erect penis amid the sex scandals involving their presenters.
In the first episode of the third series, viewers could have seen the organ of Charles Hanani, the father of main character Yasmin who is portrayed by Marisa Abela. Charles is her billionaire scammer dad who is portrayed by RADA-trained actor Adam Levy, 53.
He will be seen having sex in his yacht with a blonde woman in the first two minutes of the first episode. However, the BBC has confirmed that they decided against using that explicit version.
In October 2022, HBO announced that they had renewed Industry for a third season, with star Myha’la Herrold - who plays Harper - gushing: 'Y'all did this... Thank you so much for watching our show and sending us so much love. I can't wait to bring you more @industryhbo. Season three is coming!'
Creators Mickey Down and Konrad Kay previously teased on a Discord chat that they had 'a very good season three idea.' "We had a rule that we had to burn our best plot ideas as quickly as possible," Kay said of season two. "Hold nothing back. Every episode should feel like a finale. We hate how slow most modern TV is." "Industry reached new heights in season two, cementing its status as a buzzy hit with addictive storytelling, layered characters, a breakneck pace, and keen observations about contemporary workplace dynamics," HBO Programming senior VP Kathleen McCaffrey told Deadline. "We're incredibly proud of what Mickey and Konrad, Jami O'Brien, Jane Tranter, and the team at Bad Wolf - together with our entire cast and crew - accomplished. We couldn't be more excited to continue our journey with them into season three."
