And the TV star extended her support to the Princess of Wales' who announced in March that she has been diagnosed with cancer and was undergoing 'preventative' chemotherapy.
Empathising with the privacy issues around Kate's cancer diagnosis in an interview with Good Housekeeping Julia explained: 'My heart really did go out to her. I wanted to go public with my cancer diagnosis because I didn't think I'd be able to keep it a secret.
'Also, I've been an ambassador for multiple cancer charities for 20 years. My mum had bowel cancer. My dad had prostate cancer.

'So I've always put myself out there because cancer is something that, unfortunately, affects all of our families.'
Talking about her own decision to go public she said: 'I felt that it was the right thing to do to go public, and then to talk about how I was managing and handling it.
'I didn't do it for a sympathy vote. I did it to show that I was as scared and vulnerable as anybody else.'
Opening up with Good Housekeeping she added: 'Going through a health shock made me think about everything differently.
'I had to reframe work after my breast cancer diagnosis and build in daily habits that were going to become lifetime ones that would impact how I work.
'I saw that, actually, you're not selfish if you implement self-care, and you're not being lazy if you rest, because it's incredibly important.
'How that all fits into the work jigsaw is that I don't work seven days a week any more. I still need to earn a living, but I've found a [different] way. Fortunately, my book has done well.
'Now I'm writing another. So I can split my time between writing a book and filming.'

'Alcohol is a very touchy subject. It's an addictive substance. I manage to resist it because my increased risk of breast cancer recurrence is 28% if I drink alcohol regularly. I don't need any other incentive.'
Back in January 2023, the star took to Instagram to share a reel documenting her life since being diagnosed with breast cancer in September 2021.
Reflecting on her battle with breast cancer, Julia shared photographs of herself from across the year as she spoke about how she has changed her life.
She said she has given up alcohol, changed her diet and prioritizes sleep as she spoke about the lifestyle changes she has implemented to reduce her risk of her cancer returning.
The reel also included some emotional moments from throughout her cancer battle, including her attending her breast screening and in a hospital bed for treatment.
Julia also shared snaps of herself with her kids - Zephyr, 11, and twins Xanthe and Zena, seven - as well as the poster for her documentary Breast Cancer and Me.
In text printed across the reel, she reflected on her life since her breast cancer diagnosis and spoke about her work raising awareness for the disease.
It read: 'Breast screening. Something strange, but nothing to worry about. Until one year later: A breast cancer diagnosis.

'Work with beautiful people on worthwhile projects. Stay connected to nature. Reconnect with my family and friends, reconnect with my old self. Keep learning.
'Prioritise sleep and exercise and nutrition. Begin writing a book, keep smiling.'
