Manchester City vs Watford: Carabao Cup Live Stream, Latest Score & Updates Today - How To Watch
Manchester City begin their quest to recapture the Carabao Cup when they host Championship outfit Watford at the Etihad Stadium. Pep Guardiola has made a habit of winning this competition during his time in English football but has not lifted this particular piece of silverware since 2021.
After two gruelling games against Inter Milan and Arsenal, Guardiola will be looking to rotate. Whatever team he sends out will undoubtedly be favourites but it promises to be an occasion upon which a few of the younger players in his squad can impress. With Rodri reportedly facing a lengthy time out of action, perhaps an understudy will emerge this evening.
Tom Cleverley’s Hornets side are just outside the play-offs in the second tier as things stand but arrive in Manchester having just lost 4-1 to Norwich. Follow all the action with Standard Sport’s dedicated LIVE match blog!

The Stats Ahead of Tuesday’s Cup Clash
Manchester City begin their League Cup campaign by welcoming Championship side Watford to the Etihad Stadium. The Blues only faced Arsenal 48 hours ago, but are back in action as the Hornets try to sting City and claim a first victory at the home of the Blues since 1987.
Thirteen matches have been played in Manchester since then, with City winning all but one of them - a goalless draw in December 2006. The two teams have met in Manchester 19 times overall, with Watford winning just three of those fixtures. Their first win at Maine Road came in the Fa Cup in February 1986, when the Hornets won a second replay 3-1. Their next victory came a month later when they won 1-0 in the league, then recorded a 2-1 win at Maine Road in April 1987 as the Blues headed for the relegation trap door.
Their next meeting came just seven months later, when Mel Machin’s young City side beat Watford 3-1 in the League Cup, their only other meeting in this competition.
Despite City’s dominance over Watford, they have only managed nine clean sheets in this fixture, the last one coming in City’s 8-0 thrashing of the Hornets in September 2019. However, the Blues have managed to score 44 goals to Watford’s 15. City have failed to score in this fixture just twice overall.
City are enjoying their longest unbeaten home run against Watford, winning the last eight in all competitions, whilst the visitors best run against the Blues was two wins and a draw in January, February and March 1986.
In the month of September, they have faced each other twice on City soil, with the Blues running out winners on both occasions - Watford fans won’t need reminding that last time, the Blues were 5-0 up after 18 minutes.
Will it be a similar story on Tuesday night?
