If you're a fan of the TV show Friends, then you should probably grab your passport because McDonald's just released an adults Happy Meal inspired by the show. The catch is, the McDonald's x Friends Meal is currently only available in Spain.
According to @snackolator, an Instagram account that shares food news, the McDonald's x Friends Meal includes your choice of entree, fries, a drink, and a toy. The six toys featured in the collection are all inspired by characters from Friends, and they're absolutely adorable.
McDonald's even put in the effort to design each of the toys after a special moment from the show. The Phoebe toy includes a guitar, and there's an appearance from Chick and Duck, two feathered friends from the Friends universe.
Those who purchase the McDonald's x Friends Meal will also receive a Friends-themed Happy Meal box and the limited-edition Monica's Marinara sauce packet.
Over here in the States, fans are less than pleased that McDonald's has released yet another unique offering that won't be available in the U.S.
“Could I BE any more jealous?” Snackolator wrote.
“Bro I'm so disappointed yes they need to bring these to the USA,” said one person.
“Convinced McDonald’s hates America,” another user declared.
Others are hoping that the chain considers creating an adults Happy Meal for another popular sitcom from the past.
“Wake me up when it's a Seinfeld happy meal,” wrote one fan.
We'll continue to keep our fingers crossed.
The Friends Happy Meal includes your choice of entree, fries, a drink, and a toy. Customers in Spain can choose between a Big Mac, a Quarter Pounder, A CBO (Cheddar, Bacon, Onion), a McRoyal Deluxe or a McChicken. The Happy Meal also comes with a side of French fries and a drink. As an additional treat, McDonald’s created a special sauce called “Monica’s Marinara,” which might be a reference to “Handbag Marinara” when Rachel poured a jar of the sauce into Monica’s purse.
The Happy Meal boxes are also decorated for the theme inspired by the sitcom, featuring the New York City skyline and drawings of the Friends figurines that are available inside. Purchasing the adult Happy Meal, which is available for €9.50 (approximately $10.41 USD) will make the memories of snagging one as a child come flooding back. Who says we’re too old for a delicious Happy Meal?
While there is no news as to whether this collaboration will make it over to the United States, never say never. Multiple collaborations that have launched in other countries have made their way stateside before, including ones with Crocs and Squishmallows.
McDonald’s Spain announced the collaboration on October 10 on their social media page, featuring one of their restaurants transformed in the series spot, Central Perk. Check out the announcement here.
Fans worldwide have been vocal about wanting this collaboration to come to other countries and regions. One X, formerly known as Twitter, user, wrote, “I NEED this in the beautiful United States of America.” Another tweeted, “Bring these to the USA & Canada. PLEASE.”
