Emmerdale viewers have been left puzzled as Amelia and Tom's new relationship has seemingly come out of nowhere, with fans accusing the show of "missing scenes."
The character of Tom, played by James Chase, has been a constant tormentor to his wife Belle Dingle, but things took a darker turn when she decided to end their marriage. In an attempt to further unsettle his estranged wife, Tom has been threatening and intimidating Belle, while also growing closer to 18 year old Amelia, portrayed by Daisy Campbell.
During Tuesday's episode, viewers were left scratching their heads as the pair discussed their relationship, confirming they'd been seeing each other for several weeks - despite Tom still pursuing Belle in recent episodes. Fans took to Twitter to express their confusion and frustration over the unexpected romance, with one viewer branding Belle's coercive control storyline as "one dimensional" and expressing their annoyance that Tom and Amelia's relationship was happening off-screen.
Another surprised viewer wrote: "Tom and Amelia at it for 2 weeks. Sorry what."
Meanwhile, another fan remarked: "Just watched tonight's #Emmerdale - Apparently Amelia and Tom have been together for a few weeks yet we've only seen them on screen together this week? Have we skipped scenes? She's young enough to be his sister."
In recent episodes, Amelia has taken a firm stance in favour of Tom after their relationship was exposed by Belle at The Woolpack on Tuesday, sparking concern amongst viewers over Amelia's well-being. Fans are concerned about her future storylines; some speculate that Tom could potentially exploit Amelia.
"Why do I get an awful feeling Tom will take advantage of Amelia in a drunken state? " pondered a fan online. Fears are growing as one viewer expressed, "Oh no is Tom after Amelia now."
while another added, "And here begins the Amelia and Tom ick! ! " Concerns also extend to baby Esther, with one person worrying, "I can't bear the thought of him being with Amelia though and anywhere near that baby."
In light of these fears, questions are raised: Are both Amelia and Esther heading towards peril?
