The NFL season has finally arrived, bringing the return of marquee matchups and -- most importantly -- uniform heat. The Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens kick off the year with a Thursday night matchup. The Chiefs are keeping it simple with their red look, while the Ravens will wear all white. On Friday night, the NFL's first game in Brazil will also include a first for the Philadelphia Eagles, who debut a unique combination. However, the Green Bay Packers plan to wear their traditional green and yellow threads for the matchup. Here's a look at the uniform combinations for the first two games of the 2024 NFL season.

Baltimore Ravens: All White

The Ravens are kicking off the 2024 NFL season wearing all-white on the road against the Kansas City Chiefs. The Ravens went 2-0 wearing this combination last season.

Philadelphia Eagles: Black, White and Black

The Philadelphia Eagles will be debuting a new uniform combination for their game against the Green Bay Packers in Brazil. The Eagles will be wearing black helmets, white jerseys, and black pants. This is the first time the Eagles have worn this combination, and it is sure to be a popular look among fans.

Green Bay Packers: Traditional Green and Yellow

The Green Bay Packers will be sticking with their traditional green and yellow threads for their game against the Philadelphia Eagles in Brazil. The Packers have a long and storied history of wearing these colors, and they are one of the most recognizable teams in the NFL. They will have yellow helmets, green jerseys, and yellow pants.

More Than Just Cloth: The Deeper Meaning of Jerseys

A jersey is more than just an article of clothing. It represents more. It signifies unity and camaraderie. Wearing a team’s jersey is a profound act of identity—it means standing not just for oneself, but for teammates and the entire organization. Former US Olympic hockey coach Mel Brooks understood what it meant to put on a uniform.

“When you pull on that jersey, you represent yourself and your teammates. And the name on the front is a hell of a lot more important than the one on the back.”

Not only do jerseys represent the team, players, and organization, but they also symbolize the community and everyday people and fans who resonate with them.

Ravens' All-White: A Pop of Style, But Will it Pay Off?

For tonight's game, the Baltimore Ravens chose to rock their all-white uniforms. That's right, white on white. These uniforms POP. The purple number smacks off the uniform and really gives the team a sweet look. While the final score will indicate who won the actual game, it's fair to suggest that the Ravens already won the jersey game.

The Ravens will sport their white jersey/white pant tonight against the Kansas City Chiefs. They'll be rocking the typical away white-top jersey. They had options for their away pants, either white, black, or purple, but ultimately decided the look was too clean to pass up.

The Ravens are wearing all-white on the road in Kansas City tonight. While the kit pops, the Ravens don't always necessarily show up when they wear it. Bad news, or good news first? It's probably better to start off with the bad and end on a high note.

The Ravens have not been all that successful in their all-whites. Overall, the Ravens are 45-58 all-time when wearing white-on-white. That means they lose around 57 percent of the time. To make matters worse, when wearing the all-whites in Week 1, the Ravens are 2-5 all-time. Those numbers are bleak, however there is good news.

Last season, the Ravens went 2-0 when they went all-white. Maybe that's a sign of what's to come tonight. Regardless, it's important to remember that the jerseys they wear will not impact their performance on the field. That said, those are some interesting numbers, so be careful flock nation.

You know what they say, “Look good, feel good, play good.” The Ravens will look good tonight, so here's to hoping they play as good as they look.

The Excitement Surrounding the New NFL Season Reaches Local Sports Apparel Stores

The 2024 NFL season officially kicks off tonight, and local sports apparel stores are happy about what that means for business. Kansas City and Baltimore start things off beginning at 8:20 p.m. Thursday, there's a Friday night game where the Green Bay Packers will take on the Philadelphia Eagles in Brazil, and then the regular slate takes place on Sunday. Bob Reaume, owner of Bob Reaume Sports on Tecumseh Road East, says sales ahead of the season have started a little bit but he's expecting it to pick up into the weekend. Reaume says t-shirts are always a strong seller because they're affordable, and they're expecting to receive some more jerseys later this week as well.

“We carry a lot of different teams after the Lions. I mean we have to keep their whole division around: Minnesota, Chicago and Green Bay. Pittsburgh is always strong with us, so are the Ravens, Kansas City does pretty decent along with the Rams and Chargers. We have to carry about 16 to 17 different teams of NFL product,” he said.

He says so far they're happy with the new looks for 2024 gear. “Hat wise I mean the stuff you're going to see on the feel, and we got a bunch of others. Then we had some custom hats made for us by New Era that won't appear anywhere else. You had to buy a bit of quantity of them but it wasn't overwhelming. We've got two or three hats that you won't find anywhere else, they're not even on Detroit's website.”

Reaume says they've moved to a new location that people should be aware of. “We're down down the road, 5400 Tecumseh Road East, right in the plaza right next to PartSource the big red building. We're open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. during the week, Friday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.” he said.

The Detroit Lions close out the Sunday slate, taking on the Los Angeles Rams in the Sunday nighter at Ford Field.
