As the summer came to a close, the Venice Film Festival continued with Daniel Craig and Drew Starkey on the red carpet with their “Queer” director Luca Guadagnino. In Los Angeles, Tim Burton received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame with his “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” stars Winona Ryder and Michael Keaton by his side. Across the country, in New York City, ahead of Fashion Week, Anitta dazzled at the launch of her latest Shein collaboration, evoluSHEIN x Anitta.

We’ve always known Loewe can do it all—just look at Omar Apollo and Drew Starkey. The Spanish label might be known for their more out-there, crafty pieces (see: pixelated jumpers, dresses shaped like giant flowers, and hammered metal coats), but trust: they can do classic, too.

A Tale of Two Loewes

The two ends of the Loewe spectrum were on full display last night on the red carpet at the premiere of Queer, Luca Guadagnino’s latest sweeping period romance. Apollo and Starkey, two of the film's stars, were both dressed in their own versions of the same label.

Apollo lent into the brand’s more avant-garde side, wearing a metal blouse from the house’s spring-summer 2025 menswear collection. Made of movable and alternating gold-toned bars chainmailed into a vest shape, Apollo paired the top with a single-breasted black suit and a sloped-nose leather shoe.

Starkey, meanwhile, went in the other direction. Going for a more classic approach to tailoring, the actor (who plays Allerton in the film) wore a navy single-breasted tuxedo with a contrasting black lapel. A super clean pressed white shirt (sans-tie, of course), round-nosed derbies, and round-lensed sunglasses brought it home.

Regardless of which way you’re leaning, you’ve got to admit they’re both incredibly solid fits.

Loewe's Red Carpet Dominance

And yeah, it’s no surprise that Loewe was the brand behind such a red carpet dichotomy. Jonathan Anderson, the brand's creative director, is a good friend and longtime collaborator of the film’s director, Luca Guadagnino.

Just like he did for Challengers, everyone’s favorite tennis-throuple movie, Anderson has created the costumes for Queer. On the press tour for Challengers, its stars Zendaya, Josh O’Connor, and Mike Faist were dressed in Loewe more often than they were not. So for any Loewe loyalists in the crowd, we’re betting you can expect the same of the Queer cast.

Meaning more crisp tailoring, more big ticket square-offs from Drew Starkey and Omar Apollo, and more 360 Loewe that caters to every single kind of menswearhead.
