The latest set of first-look images from the upcoming second half of Outlander season seven have left fans absolutely desperate to see the time-travelling drama back on their screens. Outlander devotees are abuzz with excitement over new snippets teasing the second instalment of the show's seventh series, although some have been amusingly sidetracked by Roger Mackenzie (played by Richard Rankin). The hotly awaited return of the smash-hit Starz time-travel saga is set for this November, ending a suspense-filled hiatus since last summer's mid-series cliffhanger. Central couple Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire Fraser (Caitriona Balfe) are plotting their route back to Scottish lands, while Roger and William Buccleigh 'Buck' MacKenzie (Diarmaid Murtagh) adventure through time to find Roger and Brianna's (Sophie Skelton) child Jemmy. Newly unveiled pictures from the forthcoming episodes give fans a glimpse of some familiar faces returning to the screen, including Roger's forebearers Dougal MacKenzie (Graham McTavish) and Geillis Duncan (Lotte Verbeek). Yet, among the serious dramatic developments, it is Roger's retro appearance in his and Brianna's 1980s life that has sparked a lighter conversation among followers. His exaggerated gesture and peculiarly placed hand while he stretches out to rest against their vehicle drew amused comments from the viewers. On Reddit, where the snaps were shared, one enthusiast couldn't suppress their mirth, writing: "Lol idk why but Roger's hand in the car pic took me out," peppered with laughing-tears emojis. "Same!! I was looking for this comment," chimed in another. Zooming in on the intricacies of the pose, an additional fan highlighted, "That thumb is doing some crazy s**t!" Another observer quipped: "It looks like an AI hand lol." Another chimed in with: "I was hoping someone else saw it too. All he has to do is tilt his head back and dump a bucket of water over himself. Its such a jarringly 'fabulous' pose lmao." Despite the mixed reactions, Richard received heaps of praise from numerous fans, potentially eclipsing his co-star Sam as Outlander's top heartthrob. "Roger in the 80s is so freaking handsome. I love the haircut and the beard," swooned one fan. "Never did I ever think I'd find Roger hot but COME ON," exclaimed another, punctuating their sentiment with a series of fiery emojis. "I've always found the actor good looking, but the period hairstyles he wore didn't flatter him," confessed another fan. "The current one, though... Agreed, he looks gorgeous." Fans of Outlander are on the edge of their seats, eager to see if Roger's journey through time will culminate in a successful reunion with his stunning wife Brianna in the 20th Century. It's drawing ever closer. The end of the latest Droughtlander inches closer as we make our way to the premiere of the second batch of episodes in Outlander Season 7. Come Friday, November 22, the hit STARZ historical drama will return for some more time travel and heart-thumping romance. Ahead of the show's eagerly anticipated return, TV Insider has shared a flurry of new images to herald it. As expected, series leads Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitríona Balfe) feature extensively in this new batch of imagery, as do their daughter, Bree (Sophie Skelton) and her time-travelling husband, Roger (Richard Rankin), who returns to the 18th century to search for their kidnapped son, Jemmy.
As much as we love to see the Frasers, their images aren't the highlight of this new batch. Intriguingly, some stars from seasons past are making their return to the show. Chief among them is long-dead Dougal MacKenzie (Graham McTavish) who returns alongside his time-traveling love interest, Geillis (Lotte Verbeek) who, just like Dougal, died in a previous season of the show. Adding another layer of intrigue to the new batch of episodes, Claire and Jamie's return to Scotland will see the pair meet up once more with Jamie’s second wife, Laoghaire (Nell Hudson).
As shown in the final knockings of Part 1 of Season 7, Jamie and Claire will return to Scotland after opposing the British Crown in the American colonies, in hopes of keeping Jamie's promise to his sister and returning Young Ian (John Bell) to her. Bell's Young Ian is one of the other characters featured in this new batch of images. Others include Jamie's bosom friend, Lord John Grey (David Berry), Jamie's son and Grey's adopted son, William (Charles Vandevaart). The Hunter siblings, Denzell (Joey Phillips) and Rachel (Izzy Meikle-Small) also make an appearance, with Denzel poised for more medical drama and Rachel inclined to love Young Ian even more.
By the time Part 2 of Season 7 premieres, fans of the romance series will have just one more season of the show to look forward to. The eighth season of Outlander will be its last, and it is currently in production. The series is based on bestselling author Diana Gabaldon's book series which are yet to be completed. This suggests that there would be a variation between how the books and the series terminate. On how both might eventually pan out, Gabaldon confirmed that how the television series ends will not match her novels, saying:
"There's only so much I can say about the show, but what I can say is that it really won't resemble the end of the book series. Coming into Season 8, the show-runners have/had only ten episodes (rather than the sixteen, say, in Season One)--and material from THREE WHOLE BOOKS to fit into that. Season 7 ends (roughly) with AN ECHO IN THE BONE, leaving WRITTEN IN MY OWN HEART'S BLOOD, GO TELL THE BEES THAT I AM GONE, and BOOK TEN almost untouched."
Outlander Season 7 Part 2 premieres in November 2024. You can watch the first seven seasons of Outlander on Starz. Check out the new images here.
The notorious Outlander antagonists Geillis Duncan (Lotte Verbeck) and Laoghaire MacKenzie (Nell Hudson) are making waves once again as fresh snapshots herald the hotly awaited series return. Fans of the adored Starz drama are rearing to go as a November comeback has been set, carrying on Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie Fraser's (Sam Heughan) tale with their much-anticipated return to Scotland. Simultaneously, Roger MacKenzie (Richard Rankin) joins forces with William Buccleigh 'Buck' MacKenzie (Diarmaid Murtagh), embarking on a time-traveling expedition to track down Jemmy, his son with Brianna Fraser (Sophie Skelton). Throughout their quest, they stumble upon some familiar faces from the past including Buck's kin, Geillis and Dougal MacKenzie (Graham McTavish). New teaser snaps have gone public, whipping up a frenzy amongst the fanbase, particularly with snaps showing the conniving Geillis in an intimate situation with the beloved Highlander Dougal, as disclosed by the Express, reports the Daily Record. Earlier this week, the show's official Instagram account debuted these stills which were soon followed by TVInsider dropping even more pics for an expanded sneak peek. The fan reaction has been explosive with one exclaiming: "Dougal? Geilis? WHATTT." Another admirer couldn't hide their shock, saying: "LAOGHAIRE??? DOUGAL??? GEILIS???? WHAT'S HAPPENING." A bemused follower, referring to a specific shot of Dougal and Geillis, commented: "Second pic?!?!!? What's happening?!" while another was staggered to see: "Not Laoghaire agaaaaiiiiinnn." Laoghaire and Claire's well-known animosity, rooted in Laoghaire's infatuation with Claire's husband Jamie, contrasts with Geillis' darker history. Fans are buzzing with speculation: Will Roger and William's paths cross with conflict in 18th-century Scotland? Reddit was abuzz when Geillis made an unexpected return, despite her apparent end in season three. One perplexed fan asked, "That isn't Geillis, is it? " Another replied in the affirmative, prompting the original poster to react, "But, but, how can that be! I have read all the books and I swear she doesn't come back." A knowledgeable fan stepped in to explain, "She's in Written in My Own Heart's Blood when Buck and Roger accidentally travel to 1739 (I think that was the date)." The explanation continued, "That's when they also meet Black Jack Randall (Tobias Menzies) and Dougal." Despite this, Tobias has dismissed rumors of his comeback as Black Jack, telling TVLine, "No, you will not see me." This statement has left fans wondering if this part of the book series has been omitted or if Tobias is keeping a tight lid on a potential surprise return of another villain in Outlander's upcoming seventh season.
