Singer Pink's performance at the DNC in Chicago Thursday night did include a surprise guest -- but it wasn't Beyoncé or Taylor Swift. It was her 13-year-old daughter, Willow Sage Hart. On the fourth and final night of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, singer Pink, who is set to perform at Soldier Field this weekend, performed her 2017 hit "What About Us." She was joined by Willow Sage, who took several lines on her own during the performance, emphatic applause from the audience. Earlier in the evening, the Chicks, formerly known as the Dixie Chicks, performed the national anthem. And at the end of the night, Vice President Kamala Harris took the stage in a historic acceptance speech. All day Thursday, rumors about special guest appearances swirled around the DNC, with many guessing that Taylor Swift would put on a surprise DNC performance. But as the afternoon went on, the speculation shifted to a different megastar: Beyoncé. Around 3:30 p.m., White House Policy Director Emmy Ruiz tweeted a bee emoji, which many read as a winking nod to the "Beyhive," Beyoncé's fans. Thursday evening, TMZ reported that the singer was expected to perform at the convention. And later in the night, MSNBC's Katie Phang said Beyoncé arrived at the United Center during the second hour of the convention's final night. As the speeches went on, the rumors fell flat. The Washington Post later reported that there were no plans for a "surprise performance," and The Hollywood Reporter quoted a representative of Beyoncé who said she "was never scheduled to be there." As Harris entered the stage for the final speech of the night, the Beyonce's song "Freedom" played over the loud speakers. Following Harris' address, thousands of balloons were dropped from the ceiling -- but the singer never appeared. By 11:38 p.m., TMZ had issued an apology on social media -- using a quote from Queen Bey herself. "To quote the great Beyoncé: We gotta lay our cards down, down down ... we got this one wrong." As the evening concluded, some on social media responded to the rumor rollercoaster. On Aug. 22, the Grammy-winning singer took the stage at the 2024 Democratic National Convention in Chicago alongside her eldest child, daughter Willow Sage. Together, the mom and daughter duo sang an acoustic version of Pink's 2017 hit single, "What About Us?" In addition to Willow, Pink and her husband Carey Hart are also the parents of a son, Jameson Moon. The family has traveled the world together over the years, joining Pink on tour. "I've never juggled so many damn plates in my life, but it's because I want to," Pink told Redbook in 2018 about bringing her kids on tour. "I enjoy it. If I had nannies raising my kids and just wanted to be a rock star and party all the time -- I wouldn't be successful, and I wouldn't be happy." The family also graced the cover of People together in 2018 for the magazine's Beautiful Issue. In the issue, Pink discussed her parenting style, saying, "I believe in affection. I believe in needs being met and faith being implemented, and I believe in letting your kids know they can count on you, and that you'll be there." She added, "I always tell Willow, 'I'm going to teach you the rules so that you'll know how and when to break them.'" Here is what to know about Pink's husband and their two kids. Pink and Hart, a motorcross racer, wed on Jan. 7, 2006, on a beach in Costa Rica, People reported at the time. The couple first met at the 2001 X Games in Las Vegas and got engaged in 2005, when Pink proposed to Hart during a motorcross race in California, according to People. Both Hart and Pink have been honest over the years about the work they put into their marriage and the joy they get from being a family. "It is a lifetime of coming back to the table," Pink said of marriage in a 2020 Instagram post. "People laugh at us because we're either fighting or laughing. They roll their eyes when we talk about therapy. But I'll tell you what. It's worth it. All of it. Even when it isn't." When they celebrated their 18th year of marriage on Jan. 7, 2024, Hart penned a tribute to Pink, writing on Instagram, "In the last 18 years of marriage to this amazing human, we have done so much together." "Raise two amazing children, travel the world, go on adventures, love, argue, make up, support each other, laugh, cry, laugh more, breakup, get back together, party, mourn, grow, and a million other things. There is no one else on this planet I'd rather do it with than you," he wrote. "22 years in each other lives and I'm looking forward to the next 22. As long as you don't kill me first 🤣🤣🤣🤣. Love you baby!!!!! Happy anniversary, @pink." Willow Sage Hart was born June 2, 2011. The now-teenager has been a constant presence by her mom's side over the years, joining her on her world tours, appearing in a music video and serving as inspiration for Pink's songs. In February 2021, Willow made her Billboard chart debut with a duet track with Pink, "Cover Me In Sunshine." "Willow and I find comfort in music, so we're putting this song out for no other reason than that we hope it brings you sweetness, sunshine and comfort too," Pink told People about the song. A few years earlier, in 2017, Pink delivered a message on self-acceptance at the MTV Video Music Awards that went viral and was inspired by Willow. In her remarks, Pink said that her daughter mentioned that she thought she was ugly and that she looked like a boy, so she told her, "What do you think I look like?" "When people make fun of me, that's what they use, they say I look like a boy," Pink said. "I said, 'Do you see me changing my body?' She said, 'No, momma.' ... 'Do you see me selling out arenas all over the world?' She said, 'Yes, momma.'" In 2023, Willow joined Pink on her "Summer Carnival" tour, including performing "Cover Me In Sunshine" with her mom. Why Pink is 'really proud' to tour with her kids in tow In May, Pink said that Willow's passion is musical theater. "She's got a voice, man. She's a little bird," the singer told People of her daughter. "She wants to do Broadway and then be a trauma surgeon." Jameson Moon Hart was born Dec. 26, 2016. Like his older sister, Jameson travels the world with his mom on tour. On social media, Pink often shares photos and videos of Jameson biking, skateboarding and playing outside. Pink and her children grace the cover of People's 'Beautiful' issue On his 7th birthday in 2023, Pink shared a video on Instagram of Jameson flying down a slide, captioning the video, "Happy 7th bday wild Child ... Stay weird." In 2022, the singer described her son as a "miracle," writing on Instagram, "They said we couldn't have you. Then you had to try twice to get here. I wasn't sure I could love another the way I loved Willow already. I thought it would break me in half. Instead, having you exploded my head and my heart and made me bigger. You are a miracle." She added, "You are a miracle because you choose joy every single day. You make every room brighter, every life you touch happier, truer.. you are full body feelings." © 2024 ABC News TOPSHOT - US singer-songwriter Pink (R) and her daughter Willow (L) perform on the fourth and last ... Kamala Harris accepted her party’s nomination for the presidency, and the event was a must-watch for political junkies—and music fans as well, as it turned out. Pop singer Pink took to the main stage to perform for the thrilled crowd. She was joined by her daughter Willow Sage, and the two sang the chart-topper’s “What About Us,” which immediately made the tune a conversation topic and a trending title on social media. “What About Us” has also become a bestseller following Pink’s high-profile performance. The single bolted up the U.S. iTunes chart after the showing, and it’s nearly conquered the list in the hours since she sang the cut. At the time of writing, “What About Us” sits at No. 2 on the ranking of the bestselling tracks on iTunes in America. The only track holding it back from running the show—at least for the time being—is Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” which is a non-mover at No. 1. Pink released “What About Us” as a single back in 2017. The song served as the first taste of her album Beautiful Trauma. The cut eventually climbed as high as No. 13 on the Hot 100, and it performed even better on a number of Billboard’s radio rankings. As “What About Us” surges, the album it’s featured on is also on the rise. Beautiful Trauma currently appears inside the top 40 on the U.S. iTunes list of the bestselling full-lengths in the country. At the moment, it’s present at No. 39, and it could continue to climb in the coming hours. Pink was not the only musical guest during the final night of the DNC. While there were rumors that Beyoncé would show, they turned out not to be true. The Chicks—formerly known as the Dixie Chicks—showed up, and their Grammy-winning hit “Not Ready to Make Nice” is also on the rise. That angry cut sits at No. 61 on iTunes, and it’s rocking its way up the sales list. One Community. The mother-daughter duo hit the stage on Thursday for the fourth and final night of the 2024 Democratic National Convention at the United Center in Chicago. Pink, 44, and Willow, 13, wore coordinating black outfits, both keeping their hair short and accessories to a minimum as three other singers and a guitarist joined them. The duo performed an acoustic version of Pink’s 2017 hit song “What About Us.” After the “So What” artist started the song, she sweetly touched her daughter’s back to lend support as it was her time to shine. Fans flocked to social media to share their admiration for Willow’s talent. One X user wrote beneath a clip from the DNC, “Her daughter was amazing,” while another chimed in, “Unbelievably talented! Her daughter is following in her footsteps!” Rounding out the sweet feedback, one person touched on Pink’s motherly support, saying, “I loved how she kept putting an arm to Willow’s back for encouragement/support. That was a big audience!” while another wrote, “It was AMAZING!!! Loved it and thanks for the post … playing it again!” Willow is no stranger to joining her mom onstage. The teenager has accompanied Pink on various occasions throughout her Summer Carnival tour, which started last year and is ongoing. But these days, Willow has stepped away from tour life to follow her own dreams in theater.  “This weekend’s shows were Willow’s last few on tour before she takes time away to follow her dreams. I promised I wouldn’t cry,” Pink wrote on Instagram in June. “I DID NOT however, promise I wouldn’t hyperventilate through our hug.” She added, “It’s wild to watch your children grow up and out of you, but I’m beyond proud. We all are. I’m gonna miss you so much.” Pink’s post showed her and Willow talking backstage as the Grammy winner asked the young star to fill her in on what she’s planning to do when she gets home.  “I want you to tell me all the things. You’re leaving me. Why would you ever do that?” teased Pink. “What are you doing when you get home, what are you looking forward to?” And Willow, in fact, has big plans waiting for her. She coyly smiled before telling her famous mom that she would be in a production of “Bye Bye Birdie.”  It seems that this was always the path the daughter of Pink and motorcyclist Carey Hart would take. “You fell in love with ‘Mamma Mia!'” Pink recalled of her daughter’s early foray into performance. “I remember when you came out onstage for the first time in ‘Mamma Mia!’ and I was like, ‘Who is that person?’ I had never seen you so big and like, your energy was six times your body, it was amazing. I was blown away.” Willow even noted she dreams of professionally pursuing theater and being on Broadway. “You have your own lane and you want to be in it and I love that for you,” Pink told her eldest child. “I will tell you that in this last recital, I saw a version of you that I didn’t know existed. And it is really wild to watch you grow up and grow out of me.” And it’s a full-circle moment, as Willow took the stage with her mom in June of last year to open the Summer Carnival tour. The “Sober” singer watched in awe as Willow, then 12, belted out the lyrics to their song “Cover Me in Sunshine.” A guitarist accompanied Willow as she wrapped up the performance, to the audience’s massive applause.  Pink continued shaking her head and shrugging her shoulders in disbelief at Willow’s talent.  Afterward, Willow’s father — who also has son Jameson, 7, with Pink — took to Instagram to gush over his wife and daughter’s moment. “Proud of Willz to get up on stage w/ mama @pink !!!!!” he captioned the Instagram video. “Must be a surreal moment for mama to have w/ her lil girl on stage. Looks like 1st show of the tour kicked ass!!!!!”
