QPR Injury Update: Andersen's Return Imminent, Chair Still Out
Lucas Andersen, who suffered a thigh injury during QPR's 2-2 draw against Sheffield United, is expected to return to action soon. According to head coach Marti Cifuentes, Andersen's injury is not serious and he is already back on the training pitch.
Andersen's Recovery
Andersen sustained a muscular strain in his adductor while taking a corner during the match. Cifuentes initially feared the worst when he saw Andersen in pain but was relieved after the scans revealed a minor rupture.
“It was good news that it’s not a big one, so hopefully he will be (returning) soon,” Cifuentes said. “The first feeling was not great and when I saw he was standing with pain it was not a good signal. But we took the pictures and it’s a small rupture in his adductor. The good thing is that it’s not a big one and he has already been on the (training) pitch the last couple of days, feeling better and better.”
While a precise return date is yet to be confirmed, Cifuentes is optimistic about Andersen's swift recovery. “It’s difficult to say exactly when he will be back, but it looks better than how it felt on the pitch,” he added.
Chair's Extended Absence
However, QPR will continue to be without Ilias Chair, who is expected to remain sidelined for several more weeks due to a back injury. Chair's absence will be a significant blow to the team, as he is a key player in their attacking line-up.
Looking Ahead
Despite the absence of Chair and Andersen's recent injury, QPR will be looking to build on their encouraging start to the season. Their next match is against Plymouth on Saturday, a game that Andersen will miss but is expected to be back in contention for the following game.
With a strong squad and a determined coach, QPR will be looking to achieve their goals for the season. The team is currently in a good position, having picked up four points from their first three games.
The Road Ahead
The next few weeks will be crucial for QPR as they look to build on their early momentum. The return of Andersen will be a welcome boost, while Chair's absence will be a challenge to overcome. With their next match against Plymouth approaching, QPR's focus will be on securing a positive result and continuing their climb up the league table. The team's ambition is clear: to challenge for promotion and return to the Premier League.
