Ronna McDaniel Joins NBC News as Political Analyst
Ronna McDaniel, the former chair of the Republican National Committee (RNC), has joined NBC News as a political analyst.
McDaniel will make her debut on NBC’s “Meet the Press” on Sunday and she is expected to contribute to both NBC News and MSNBC.
“It couldn’t be a more important moment to have a voice like Ronna’s on the team,” Carrie Budoff Brown, senior vice president of NBC’s political coverage, said in a memo shared with the New York Times on Friday.
McDaniel stepped down from the RNC after facing criticism from former President Donald Trump and his allies for holding presidential primary debates and the organization’s spending decisions.
During her tenure as head of the RNC, McDaniel frequently criticized the press as "fake news," echoing Trump's regular attacks on the media.
Following McDaniel’s resignation, Trump endorsed Michael Whatley, chair of the North Carolina state Republican party and his daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, to succeed McDaniel as co-chairs. Earlier this month, the RNC elected both to lead the party, tightening Trump’s grip on the GOP.
McDaniel will join Marc Short, who was chief of staff to former Vice President Mike Pence and Brendan Buck, a former top House leadership aide in NBC’s lineup of Republican commentators.
Outrage Over McDaniel’s Hiring
Following the news of McDaniel's new role, netizens were left furious over NBC's choice of hiring. Outraged netizens flocked to social media to criticise the network for hiring a “Trump supporter.”
One user wrote on X, formerly Twitter, “Who else thinks NBC has made a catastrophic mistake in hiring Ronna McDaniel?”
Another user said, “Unless the very first episode with Ronna McDaniel on @MSNBC is her being arrested on air for her role in the coup attempt, I’m not interested.” One more said, “Maybe before Ronna McDaniel gets a new job, we should wait to see if she gets indicted for her old one.”
McDaniel’s First Interview
McDaniel’s first interview since leaving the RNC will be on NBC’s “Meet the Press” on Sunday. A source says conversations about the interview began well before she was hired as a contributor.
McDaniel is expected to discuss her time at the RNC, the future of the Republican Party, and the upcoming presidential election.
Conclusion
Ronna McDaniel’s hiring by NBC News is a major coup for the network. McDaniel is a well-known and respected political strategist who has a deep understanding of the Republican Party. Her addition to NBC’s lineup of political commentators will provide viewers with a valuable perspective on the upcoming election.
