A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued in Chatham-Kent. Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing very strong wind gusts, pea to dime size hail and heavy rain. This line of severe thunderstorms is located from Petrolia to Port Glasgow, moving east at 50 km/h.

Locations Impacted

The following locations are impacted by the severe thunderstorm warning:

  • Rodney
  • Ridgetown
  • John E. Pearce Provincial Park
  • Florence
  • Inwood
  • Thamesville
  • Bothwell
  • Alvinston
  • Morpeth
  • Highgate
  • Newbury
  • Wardsville
  • Glencoe

Safety Precautions

Fast-moving water across a road can sweep a vehicle away. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles.

Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!

Emergency Management Ontario Recommendations

Emergency Management Ontario recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.

Severe Thunderstorm Warnings Explained
