The Skoda Superb has just entered its fourth generation, but the outgoing model wasn’t ready to bow out quietly. Skoda’s UK branch teamed up with RE Performance to craft a one-off masterpiece, paying tribute to the “sleeper car” culture in a final, unforgettable send-off.

The Sleeper Edition may look like your average Superb Estate, but underneath, it’s packing serious performance and chassis upgrades. The star of the show is the reworked 2.0-liter TSI engine, now cranking out an impressive 470 hp and 661 Nm of torque. For context, that’s more power than the current Audi RS4 Avant ‘Edition 25,’ which squeezes out 464 hp from its twin-turbo 2.9-liter V6.

These figures mark a significant leap from the 276 hp (206 kW / 280 PS) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft)of torque in the standard Superb. The boost comes courtesy of a larger Garrett PowerMax Turbo, a new fuel system, an upgraded intercooler, and a custom-made downpipe. The engine is paired with a seven-speed DSG automatic, driving all four wheels through Skoda’s all-wheel-drive system.

UK-based tuner RE Performance also installed a new coilover suspension, dropping the ride height by 50 mm (2 inches), and upgraded the braking system with AP Racing grooved discs and six-pot calipers to ensure the nearly 500-hp Superb stops as impressively as it goes. Finishing touches include shiny 19-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Yokohama 235/40 ZR19 rubber.

Staying true to the “sleeper” character of the build, Skoda didn’t change anything on the bodywork. The one-off is based on the flagship Laurin & Klement trim, sporting a Royal Green exterior shade and adaptive Full Matrix LED headlights.

The interior stays true to its roots, wrapped in Cognac tan perforated leather and loaded with all the luxuries from the top-spec Superb. That means a 9.2-inch infotainment touchscreen, Virtual Cockpit, Canton sound system, tri-zone climate control, a massaging driver’s seat, and a heated steering wheel. The massive boot offers 660 to 1,950 liters (23.3 to 68.9 cubic feet) of space, making it perfect for those spirited grocery runs.

Unfortunately, the Skoda Superb Estate Sleeper Edition won’t be offered for sale. The one-off will remain with the press fleet of Skoda UK, showcasing what is possible when engineers are given free reign.

The purpose of the Sleeper Edition was to celebrate the success of the third-gen Superb, which sold a total of 860,000 units. This number accounts for more than half of the 1.6 million cumulative sales of the Superb nameplate since 2001.

The fourth-generation Superb, launched in June 2024, aims to continue this strong sales performance. Skoda is expected to introduce an RS performance flagship, but it’s unlikely to match the wild specs of the Sleeper Edition.
