After a rather emotional drone show showcasing the loss of a child on “America’s Got Talent” Season 19, host Terry Crews opened up about his family’s struggles with miscarriages. In an interview with People Magazine, he spoke about how he and his wife, Rebecca King-Crews, experienced three miscarriages. The host also reflected on the “AGT” act and recalled how he coped with challenging times.

The couple have been married since 1989 and share five children — Naomi, 37, Azriél, 33, Tera, 26, Wynfrey, 21, and Isaiah, 19. Rebecca was a single mother to her daughter Naomi when she started dating Terry Crews. The latter adopted Naomi after their marriage.

On September 11, “America’s Got Talent” witnessed an emotional performance. Sky Elements, leaders of large-scale drone shows in the US, illustrated the emotion behind losing a child. The light show followed the tunes of former “AGT” member Lily Meola’s song, “Butterfly,” leaving the judges — Simon Cowell, Sofia Vergara, Heidi Klum, and Howie Mandel — in tears. The latter also expressed the performance as a fitting tribute to 9/11.

Meanwhile, host Terry Crews spoke to people about how the performance was personal to him. Speaking about a personal heartbreak to People Magazine, he said, “Me and my wife, we know what it’s like to lose a child. We’ve had three miscarriages. It’s one of those things where it was so meaningful and special because the dedication is just, it’s a way to process these things.”

Crews further expressed that the show needed to combine Sky Elements’ performance with Lily Meola’s voice and song. Calling it the “perfect ‘AGT’ show,” the host continued, “We balanced out everything. We had the laughs, we had the dedications, we had the fun, we had the dancing. It was just all over the place and it was perfect.”

Terry Crews also added how he copes with difficult moments in his life with the help of music and having conversations with his wife. He said, “I sit in a room and listen to music and it helps me process… all the things I’m feeling. Then the other thing is I just talk to my wife. We talk it out. We have really, really nice long, deep conversation. Turn the TV off, turn the phone off and let’s just talk it through.”

Viewers can watch Sky Elements on the “America’s Got Talent” Season 19 final episode on September 17 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
