Love is a many-splendored thing, especially when you’re gawking at it from the outside. In this column, we’ll be examining the celebrity couples (or, occasionally, friendship pairs) that give us hope for our own romantic futures and trying to learn what we can from their well-documented bonds.
It feels like just yesterday that I was romanticizing The Bear star and Calvin Klein superhunk Jeremy Allen White’s cigarette-studded flirtation with singer Rosalía, but the Hollywood romance mill moves at lightning speed. Now, White has been spotted kissing actor Molly Gordon in what does not appear to be a scene for The Bear, the show in which they both appear, but rather a real-life moment of spontaneous passion. Is it possible that White and Rosalía are still together? Sure—nonmonogamy is famously a thing—but I kind of feel like the White-Gordon pairing was inevitable! We all saw their chemistry as romantic interests practically zing off the screen, and though Gordon made some new haters as the maybe slightly-too-patient Claire, I am emphatically not one of them. Sue me!
I’ve been a diehard Molly Gordon fan—Gordonite? Gordonista?—ever since I saw her make out with Rachel Sennott in Emma Seligman’s 2020 film, Shiva Baby, and my obsession was deeply validated by 2023’s Theater Camp, a witty and genuinely moving mockumentary about a performing-arts camp in the Adirondacks that 28-year-old Gordon codirected and costarred in as a dippy, clog-wearing music instructor inexplicably yet perfectly named Rebecca-Diane. (The image of Ben Platt entering a room looking for Gordon’s character and calling out “Becks-Di?” may never leave my mind.) I have to admit that I like White for her, even though I’m pretty sure her first move will be to make him throw out the two packs of what appear to be American Spirits that he’s clutching in their make-out pic. (I don’t know, I just get a “will make you quit smoking” energy from her, but that’s not a criticism; needling girlfriends save lungs and lives!)
While it’s unclear when White and Gordon’s romance began, White has only been divorced from his ex-wife, actress Addison Timlin, since May of 2023, after which he was briefly involved with model Ashley Moore before being spotted around Los Angeles with Rosalía. You could accuse him of moving on quite quickly, but is that really such a bad thing? (Don’t forget, I’m a divorce stan, so I’m naturally also pro-rebound in many but not all cases.) Gordon, for her part, reportedly dated her Theater Camp codirector Nick Lieberman for some unspecified period of time, but to be honest, even my CIA-level celebrity-romance googling skills couldn’t surface much else about her romantic history. But why shouldn’t Gordon make her A-list dating debut with someone as bedroom eyed and in demand as White? Theater girlies for the win!
Jeremy Allen White is raising eyebrows among The Bear fans after he was photographed kissing costar Molly Gordon.
On Thursday, September 26, the Daily Mail published a series of photos that showed the Hulu stars sharing a peck while standing by Gordon’s car in Los Angeles. White, 33, wore a yellow cardigan over a white shirt paired with light jeans and his signature baseball hat while opening the door for Gordon, 28, who was in a pink jacket and white pants.
White had what appeared to be two packs of cigarettes in his hands as they wrapped around Gordon’s waist. One photo showed the duo embracing before Gordon got in the driver’s seat of her car. (Us Weekly has reached out for comment.)
Gordon plays White’s love interest Claire on the Emmy-winning series. The kiss came a few days after the duo were spotted getting into the same car on September 20.
While some The Bear viewers were elated by the real-life pairing, others questioned what happened between White and singer Rosalía, who were previously romantically linked.
Us confirmed in November 2023 that White and Rosalía, 32, had officially started dating.
“They started as friends, but things turned romantic,” a source told Us the following month with a second insider revealing that the duo talked “about music, art and culture” when they were together.
The second source explained that White was into Rosalía’s “style and intellectual savvy” while the singer was taken by his “easy going” personality.
They never discussed their romance publicly but were spotted on various dates and even attended some of the same events — albeit separately.
“Rosalía can tell he’s a compassionate person,” the second insider shared at the time. “For right now, they’re just enjoying each other’s company.”
White’s relationship status has been a topic of conversation in Hollywood following news that he and estranged wife Addison Timlin had split. Us confirmed in May 2023 that she had filed for divorce after three years of marriage. Timlin, 33, and White share daughters Ezer, 5, and Dolores, 3.
Three months later, White was photographed packing on the PDA with Ashley Moore. However, things between them were short lived.
White candidly told British GQ in November 2023 that he had experienced “a lot of high highs, a lot of terribly low lows” during an “insane” year that included The Bear’s success and his split.
Prior to his and Timlin’s breakup, the Shameless alum would offer his then-wife sweet shout-outs any time he could.
“I love you deep in my bones,” White said to Timlin while accepting the Best Actor Golden Globe Award in January 2023. “Thank you for all that you do, thank you for everything that you’ve done.”
Life comes at you fast, and this week it hit me squarely in the jaw when it presented me with photos of Jeremy Allen White kissing his Bear co-star Molly Gordon. White and Gordon were seen in L.A. on Wednesday bidding each other adieu with what TMZ described as a “big chef’s kiss” and an intimate hug, before White held Gordon’s car door open for her and they parted ways. Throughout the entire interaction, White was cradling not one but two packs of American Spirits in his hand — perhaps an indicator of his mental state?
Gordon plays White’s love interest on The Bear, but per TMZ, there were no cameras around, so it appears this moment was, shall we say, unscripted. Until now, White was believed to be dating Rosalía, after they were seen on several romantic flower-shopping trips and cigarette breaks. It appears those two are no more — White did not show up to Rosalía’s birthday party in Paris Wednesday night (I guess even her platter of loose cigs couldn’t tempt him). Instead, he was with Gordon and her chore coat, “rehearsing” (wink, wink). What will Ayo think of all this?
Anyway, if you’re heading to L.A. anytime soon, be careful — this man and his Calvins are really making their way around town.
It looks like things are heating up for Jeremy Allen White outside of the kitchen.
On Wednesday, the actor was spotted in Los Angeles passionately kissing costar Molly Gordon, who plays his onscreen love interest on The Bear—in a clear sign that their passion has moved off-screen. (Photos here.)
The news of White and Gordon’s coupling didn’t come at the most opportune time for everyone, though, given that they were seen together on the 32nd birthday of singer Rosalía, whom White was dating at least as recently as July.
The last time White and Rosalía were seen together publicly was July 14, when the Spanish pop singer attended a Mr. Beef pop-up event in L.A. to support her boyfriend as season three of his critically acclaimed restaurant dramedy was finally released.
Now, it seems White has moved into the arms of Gordon, whom he was seen hugging and smooching on the street before opening her car door for her. (TMZ noted there were no cameras in sight when the PDA occurred, indicating this wasn’t a romantic scene being filmed for The Bear.)
Prior to the release of these photos, the state of White and Rosalía’s relationship had been brought into question when the “Despechá” singer threw a giant birthday bash in Paris and her Calvin Klein–modeling beau was nowhere to be seen.
Previously, Rosalía was in a relationship with fellow musical artist Rauw Alejandro, whom she was engaged to until the pair called it off last summer. White was previously married to actress Addison Timlin, whom he shares two daughters with. Timlin filed for divorce from him in May 2023.
The Bear’s Jeremy Allen White and Molly Gordon’s on-screen chemistry appears to have translated into some offscreen sparks, too. The co-stars were photographed kissing in Los Angeles on Sept. 25, 2024. TMZ described them as “making out” and noted that White opened a car door for Gordon. The new relationship comes after White was romantically linked to Rosalía earlier this year.
Here, a breakdown of White and Gordon’s history as friends, co-stars, and now seemingly more.
Gordon joined season two of The Bear as Claire, the childhood sweetheart of White’s character, Carmy. Prior to the show, she was good friends with Ayo Edebiri, whom she met in 2019.
Production on the series went from February 21 to April 28 and brought White and Gordon together as co-workers. Vogue revealed in July 2023 that the first time Gordon met White was when they filmed their first scene together.
Gordon spoke to Glamour in July 2023 about meeting with White: “Our first day of shooting together was the refrigerator scene. The first time I met him, I felt that excitement of meeting an actor that you admire, but I also felt like I had known him for so long. He’s such a generous, available person, whereas you have to pull so many other actors out of their shells. He was like, ‘I’m in this with you.’ I immediately felt like there was something really good there, and I felt safe in that dynamic. I guess Chris [Storer, The Bear’s creator] knew.”
White offered his own praise of Gordon to Variety. He told the outlet of her character, Claire, “I also think Molly [Gordon] does such an amazing job. She’s so disarming and funny and charming. I think it didn’t allow Carmy to build up his his regular walls. She knocked them down with ease and allowed Carmy to feel cared for, which must have just been so welcomed because I don’t know the last time Carmy would have allowed himself to be cared for.”
Gordon spoke to Shondaland about getting her role on The Bear...and offered gushing praise of White and his acting ability.
Touching on how she was cast, she shared: “So, I worked with Chris [Storer, The Bear’s creator] on Ramy five years ago and had this very special experience. I was only on the job for two days, but I always say it’s one of my favorite jobs. And Chris said to me, ‘We’re going to work together again, Molly. Just you wait.’ And people always say that, but they never actually follow through. And I’d been craving something like this as an actor for a really long time. I never thought that I would get to be included in something like The Bear and to work opposite Jeremy [Allen White], who I think is one of the best actors of our generation. That they would allow this loser to join him and everyone else who is so brilliant on that show … literally, I would’ve played a dishrag. So, the fact that they allowed me to look at Jeremy is … I’m forever grateful.”
She reportedly laughed when the interviewer mentioned she got to make out with him.
She told Glamour a similar story that same month about getting cast. Again, she expressed how happy she was getting to act with White. “I didn’t know anything about the role when I signed on,” she said. “Once they sent me the scripts and I started reading, I couldn’t believe they would put me in the same room as Jeremy Allen White. My slob self? How dare they? I was very nervous because he is such a brilliant actor, and I wanted to live up to his talent. But I trusted that Chris knew we would have a nice flow.”
The two stars posed together after winning SAG awards for their cast ensemble work on The Bear.
Gordon spoke glowingly about White to ELLE. “It still feels so pinch-me that I’m even on the show at all,” she shared. “To even have played a dishrag would have been crazy, so to play opposite Jeremy was amazing. He is such a good actor. It’s my favorite job I’ve ever had.”
She also praised his literal body of work in that viral Calvin Klein ad, saying, “I mean, I went to a yoga class several weeks ago and I’m still tired from that. I think what he was able to pull off is incredible. He should be celebrated for that.”
Gordon praised White’s acting again to ELLE UK when discussing the season two finale: “On that show, I just want to match the level of acting that is happening,” she said. “Jeremy sets such a high bar. I have to make sure the moment lands in the most honest way it can.”
Gordon spoke to L’Officiel USA about filming more emotional scenes with White, touching on their work relationship. “Chris [Storer] creates such a free space to be a real human being and connect with each other,” she said. “Unfortunately, the thing that is hardest sometimes is to be a real person on camera, because there's all this other shit going on. The director can sometimes create a space where you can't just drop into the reality of connecting with someone. Chris just knows how to bring together people crew-wise that want to live in that space, and also actor-wise. His direction is just how to be the most real as possible, and Jeremy [Allen White] is such a beautiful person to share the screen with. He’s so curious and loving and kind.”
The two co-stars were photographed making out in Los Angeles on September 22, signaling that a romance also brewed offscreen. The sighting confirmed that White’s previous relationship with Rosalía ended; they were last spotted together in July.
Is love in the air for Chef and Claire Bear again – but this time for real? Jeremy Allen White and his The Bear costar Molly Gordon, who played love interests in the award-winning FX series, packed in major PDA on Wednesday. Paparazzi shots also snapped them possibly house-hunting in Los Angeles last Friday, September 20.
As reported by several US media outlets and seen in pictures obtained by PEOPLE, things seem to be heating up between the onscreen lovers. Contrary to their dysfunctional relationship in the hit series is seeing a major update in real life.
Days before they were seen wrapping their arms around each other and sharing a kiss, the casually dressed actors were purportedly spotted on a house-hunting trip. Pictures shared by Page Six show them hopping into a white Toyota Rav 4 on September 20 outside a home that didn’t belong to them. A closer look reveals the 33-year-old star getting behind the wheel with what appears to be a flyer for the residence.
Although it remains unclear when this reel-to-real-life transition first set in place, the news comes right around the time of singer Rosalia's birthday.
The Spanish artist threw a lavish birthday bash in Paris on Wednesday evening as she turned 32. While A-listers like Gigi Hadid, Kendall and Kylie Jenner, among others, were in attendance, the Emmy-winning actor was conspicuously absent despite his previous romantic entanglement with the singer.
Rosalia and Jeremy reportedly started dating in October 2023 and were spotted at a Mr Beef pop-up event in LA in July—well into the new year – to celebrate the third season premiere of The Bear.
When did the two split up? As of now, that remains an unanswered question. Before being linked to the “Despecha” songstress, Allen was married to actress Addison Timlin, with whom he shares daughters Ezer (almost 6) and Dolores (3). Timlin eventually filed for divorce in May 2023 after getting hitched in October 2019.
Meanwhile, not much is known about Molly Gordon's relationship history.
