The television schedules are returning to normal following the Olympics 2024. Fans of BBC's staple evening programme The One Show will be pleased to know it's returning to the schedules after a break from screens. The popular television magazine and chat series will make its comeback on Monday, August 12, after announcing a hiatus for the summer in July.

The One Show was last on air on Thursday, July 25, and saw presenters Alex Jones and Roman Kemp sit down on the famous green sofa with singer Katy Perry. The hitmaker's chat was cut ever so slightly short as Roman confirmed the surprise summer schedule shake-up.

Announcing the break to those watching at home, Roman told viewers: "Enjoy the Olympics, see you on the 12th of August." Then, Alex added: "Bye, have a nice summer," as the show came to an end.

The One Show also made the announcement on social media, telling their followers on X: "Back on August 12th! The One Show is taking a summer break but we'll be back on your screens in a couple of weeks. Happy holidays and see you then!"

There have been many changes to the schedules over the last few months as broadcasters made way for a huge summer of sport which has included coverage of the Euros 2024, Wimbledon, and the Olympics. The One Show usually airs every weeknight between 7pm and 7:30pm on BBC One so viewers will be delighted to have it back in its usual spot.

The first episode back will see hosts Alex and Lauren Laverne present from the famous green sofa, with the show featuring the usual mix of topical stories and celebrity chat.

The last episode before The One Show was taken off air was broadcast on Thursday, July 25, with Alex Jones and Roman Kemp. The pair sat down with singer Katy Perry, whose interview was cut slightly short as Roman announced the show's surprising summer schedule shake-up.

Speaking to the audience at home, Roman said, "Enjoy the Olympics, see you on the 12th of August." Then, Alex chimed in: "Bye, have a nice summer," concluding the episode.

Additionally, The One Show took to social media to inform their audience about the recess, posting: "Back on August 12th! The One Show is taking a summer break but we'll be back on your screens in a couple of weeks. Happy holidays and see you then! "

Recent months have seen several television scheduling alterations as networks accommodated a packed sports season, featuring the Euros 2024, Wimbledon, and the Olympics. Normally airing every weeknight from 7pm to 7:30pm on BBC One, The One Show's return will no doubt delight its loyal viewers who are expecting it back in its regular slot.
