Richard Talman, the cherished expert from The Repair Shop, has shared a heartfelt goodbye to his colleagues as he announced the end of his journey with the show's latest series. Taking to Instagram with a behind-the-scenes video featuring the production crew, Richard expressed his gratitude for the season and the incredible team he works with.
His caption read: "Well, that's the end of filming series 10 for me! What a wonderful season with some fantastic people I have the pleasure to call workmates. You all know the experts, so wanted to feature the incredible production team that makes the series possible."
Signing off, he added: "@therepairshop Thank you for having me. It's a wrap, as they say!"
The post was met with warm responses from Richard's co-stars and admirers. Fellow expert Julian Wallis commented: "Love you brother. See you next year."
Another wrote: "Richard, thanks for sharing this, these folks are the unsung heroes." "Wow! All those people," someone remarked.
A different fan praised: " Fantastic team, it's great to see what everyone else looks like, keep up the fantastic making of this programme."
Away from the BBC series, Richard runs his own jewellery business, having embarked on his career in September 1995 after finishing secondary school and joining the renowned Sir John Cass Faculty of Arts in Whitechapel, East London.
He secured his education via a City and Guilds diamond mounting course, after which he embarked on joining the team at a Hatton Garden goldsmith as an apprentice in May 1996.
By June 2002, Richard had successfully completed his apprenticeship with The Goldsmiths' Company and went on to become a Freeman.
Richard confessed that when the chance arose for him to feature as an expert on The Repair Shop, he initially thought the call from the show's producers was a hoax.
Speaking in a previous interview to OK Magazine, he recounted: "There was an answering message on my workshop landline saying, 'I'm a researcher for a show called The Repair Shop and we wondered if you'd be interested in coming along to repair some jewellery on the television.'
"I went to press delete because I assumed it was a prank, but my wife Googled the phone number and it came up as a production company, so I called them back!"
The Repair Shop is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
