Tyreek Hill's first touchdown of the 2024 season came after a bizarre start to his Sunday.

The Miami Dolphins receiver was detained by police and handcuffed in front of fans entering the Hard Rock Stadium for what was called a "traffic incident." So naturally, Hill debuted a handcuffs celebration after he broke loose for 80 yards against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Fortunately for Hill, his teammate Jaylen Waddle came over quickly  with the "key" to free the receiver in the back of the end zone.

The 80-yard touchdown came at the perfect time for the Dolphins with the game starting to slip away. Facing a double-digit deficit, the Jaguars looked ready to add to their lead before Jevon Holland punched the ball out of Travis Etienne's hands near the goal line.

Miami took advantage of the opportunity with the bomb to Hill that cut Jacksonville's lead to three. It was Hill's 23rd touchdown with the Dolphins.

Tyreek Hill’s Arrest: What We Know

Hill was detained by police for a traffic incident about a block away from Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday morning. He was reportedly cited for reckless driving, and then he got into a verbal altercation with police after he was pulled over, according to ESPN’s Jeff Darlington. Hill was briefly detained by police, the Dolphins said, and he was then released.

He was spotted handcuffed and laying down on the ground in video that quickly circulated on social media.

The Miami-Dade Police Department said in a statement that they were investigating the incident. They announced after the game that one of the officers involved in Hill's detainment had been placed on administrative leave, too.

The Aftermath

Hill was not late for the game and participated normally. He finished with 130 receiving yards on seven catches to go with his 80-yard touchdown, which helped spark their comeback win that was capped with a 52-yard field goal from Jason Sanders as time expired. The Jaguars, who jumped up 14-0 early, didn't score at all in the second half. Hill's touchdown came after Jaguars running back Travis Etienne fumbled into the end zone just three yards away from the goal line, too. That would've put the Jaguars up 24-7 at the time, but Hill's catch resulted in a massive swing.

Dolphins Win

Tua Tagovailoa went 23-of-37 for 336 yards with one touchdown in the win for the Dolphins. Jeff Wilson had 26 rushing yards to lead them on the ground, and Waddle added 108 receiving yards on five catches to go with Hill's 130 yards. Trevor Lawrence went 12-of-21 for 162 yards and a touchdown for the Jaguars. Tank Bigsby added 73 rushing yards on 12 carries, and Gabe Davis had 62 receiving yards on three catches.

While specifics of Hill's arrest aren't yet known, and more is sure to come out in the coming days, he clearly wasn't phased by it on the field on Sunday afternoon.
