NYT Connections Answers and Hints for November 25th, 2024
This article will help you solve the November 25th, 2024 NYT Connections puzzle. The New York Times Connections is a daily word puzzle game where you need to arrange 16 words into four groups of four, each group sharing a common theme. I, like many others, find that while my touch-typing skills are lacking, my ability to solve this puzzle is rather better. While I might make a few typos (four in this sentence alone, for instance!), I'm comfortable with my process, and you shouldn't have to emulate anyone else's approach either!
The game challenges your vocabulary and ability to identify hidden relationships. You’re presented with a grid of 16 words, and you have to arrange them into four groups of four, figuring out the connections between the words in each group. This can range from items you can click, to names for research study participants, or words preceded by a body part – the possibilities are many and varied. Each group has a colour code: yellow (easiest), blue and green (medium difficulty), and purple (hardest). This colour-coding, along with the fact that there is only one correct solution, adds an extra layer of challenge.
Understanding the Gameplay
The goal of NYT Connections is to correctly identify the four thematic groups of words before you run out of attempts. Each incorrect guess costs you a life, and you only have four before the game ends. Even if you’re close, correctly identifying the group only happens if you get all four words right. Shuffling the words can help you see links. If you make a guess and you’re incorrect, you’ll lose a life. If you’re close to having a correct group, you might see a message telling you that you’re one word away from getting it right, but you’ll still need to figure out which one to swap. You can play on the NYT website or Games app. The game resets daily at midnight.
Hints for November 25th, 2024
Let's dive into the hints for each group, starting with the easiest and progressing to the most challenging. Remember, these hints are designed to guide you without revealing the answers outright. These are not necessarily the themes themselves, but are closely related and should help lead you to the correct solution.
Yellow Group Hint: A string of misfortune
This group is usually the simplest to solve. Think about what kinds of words might describe a run of bad luck or a negative trend.
Green Group Hint: Ballers
This group deals with basketball. However, consider how the word itself might be altered before finding the solution.
Blue Group Hint: Agile Evasion
Think of words that describe skillful maneuvering to avoid something. Consider a sports context, or possibly other scenarios where a need to avoid something exists.
Purple Group Hint: Variations on a Course
This is the hardest group. It relates to a popular recreational activity. Think carefully about the different types or styles that exist within the game.
Revealing the Groups (Without the Answers)

After the Game
Whether you aced the puzzle or needed a little help, remember that Connections is a game of skill and wit. Don't be discouraged if you didn't solve it perfectly. The goal is to have fun and challenge yourself. I didn't have too much trouble today, but I didn't get a perfect game, unfortunately. I extended my win streak to four. The yellow group stood out to me immediately, but I ran into a little trouble with a guess of HOST, SCORE, FLOCK and CROWD. SEA was also an option, and SCORE felt like the odd one out, so that swap gave me the greens. The yellows then stood out to me on the half-grid, but I submitted the purple group first, just because I could. I would not have stood a chance at figuring that connection out.
The New York Times Connections puzzle is a great way to start your day and a good mental exercise. So why not share your score with your friends and challenge them too?
