Wales claimed their first win under Craig Bellamy with a 2-1 Nations League success over Montenegro on a rain-lashed night in Niksic. Kieffer Moore and Harry Wilson gave Wales a dream start with a quickfire double inside three minutes. Moore’s opener was timed at 37 seconds – Wales’ fastest goal since 2003 – and ended their longest scoreless streak of four games since September 2012.

The visitors got off to the perfect start when Kieffer Moore pounced on the ball in the box and lashed home off the post with only 38 seconds on the clock. And just two minutes later, Harry Wilson thumped a long-range strike into the net to give Wales a two-goal lead.

Montenegro came back into the game, with captain Stefan Jovetic hitting the bar from the halfway line and missing a sitter which was well saved by Welsh keeper Karl Darlow, among an array of chances. Driton Camaj eventually pulled one back in the second half, but it was too little, too late.

The game played out in driving rain as A soaked manager, Craig Bellamy, watched his new-look side continue their more aggressive, front-foot approach. And it paid off as they added to an initial draw with Turkey in Cardiff last week with three valuable points here.

A Whirlwind Start

The game had barely kicked off before Wales took the lead. A misplaced pass from the Montenegro defense fell at the feet of Kieffer Moore, who volleyed the ball into the back of the net in the 38th second. It was a dream start for Wales and a nightmare start for Montenegro.

Two minutes later, Wales doubled their lead. Harry Wilson unleashed a thunderous long-range strike from 25 yards out that flew past the outstretched hands of Milan Mijatovic in the Montenegro goal.

It was a moment of brilliance from Wilson, and it had Wales on their way to a comfortable victory.

Montenegro Fight Back

The hosts were stunned by the early goals, but they were not done yet. They began to mount a comeback and they were unlucky not to pull a goal back before the break. Stefan Jovetic struck the crossbar with a spectacular shot from distance, and he then had another chance cleared off the line by Ben Davies.

After the break, Montenegro continued to push forward. The game became a more even contest and Montenegro started to look the more likely to score.

Camaj Pulls One Back

Finally, Montenegro’s pressure paid off. In the 73rd minute, they pulled a goal back. Nikola Krstovic chased down a long punt and squared the ball for Driton Camaj, who slotted home from close range.

Holding On for the Win

Montenegro threw everything at Wales in the final stages of the game, but they could not find an equaliser. Wales defended resolutely and they were able to hold on for the win.

A Night of Triumph

It was a night of triumph for Wales. Craig Bellamy’s men were dominant in the first half, and they were able to see out the game despite a late fightback from Montenegro. The win will give Bellamy’s side a much-needed boost of confidence, and it will also send a message to the rest of the group that they are a force to be reckoned with.

Key Players

Kieffer Moore’s goal was a moment of brilliance, and it set the tone for the entire game. Harry Wilson’s second goal was another highlight, and it showed that he is capable of producing moments of magic.

But it was a team effort from Wales. The defense was solid, and the midfield was composed and controlled. This was a convincing performance from Wales, and it will be interesting to see what they can achieve under Craig Bellamy.

Looking Ahead

Wales will be looking to build on their victory over Montenegro when they face Iceland next in the Nations League. Iceland will be a tough opponent, but Wales will be confident after their impressive win in Niksic.

The future is bright for Wales under Craig Bellamy. He has brought a new energy to the side, and they are playing with a freedom and confidence that they have not shown in recent times. If they can keep this up, Wales could be a force to be reckoned with in the future.

A Night to Remember

The game was played in driving rain, but it was a night to remember for the Welsh fans. They saw their team win convincingly, and they saw their new manager make a positive start to his reign. The future looks bright for Wales under Craig Bellamy, and the fans will be hoping that this win is just the beginning of a successful era.
