The principal owner of the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers was arrested on Sunday and accused of “engaging in prostitution” in Ohio, according to court documents obtained by CNN.
Jed York, who’s been with the team for nearly 20 years, became the chief executive officer in 2010.
According to the court documents, York pleaded no contest to the charges of disorderly conduct and possession of criminal tools after being detained in East Palestine. The documents state York paid $1,150 in fines associated with the charges and sentenced to a night in jail.
CNN has reached out to the 49ers and York’s legal team for comment.
NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said in a statement, “We are aware of the matter which will be reviewed under the personal conduct policy.”
Columbiana County records show York had $160 seized and not returned to the team owner, but instead “forfeited” to the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force as part of the plea agreement. The records also list that York completed an online course, though the specific nature of the course is not stated.
The 46-year-old is the oldest son of Denise and John York, the co-chairmen of the 49ers.
