Alien: Romulus, the latest film in the iconic Alien franchise started by Ridley Scott, is coming to digital streaming this week after landing in cinemas earlier this year. The film, which is set between the events of Alien and its sequel, Aliens, introduces a young new batch of space travellers led by Cailee Spaeny's Rain, while David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Isabela Merced, Spike Fearn and Aileen Wu also star. While the first two films in the franchise – Scott's Alien (1979) and James Cameron's Aliens (1986) – were met with huge universal acclaim, subsequent additions to the series failed to reach the same heights, but has Alien: Romulus managed to break the franchise's curse? Why not decide for yourself? Read on for everything you need to know about the latest Alien: Romulus streaming options.

Alien: Romulus is now available to rent or buy digitally from Prime Video, iTunes, Microsoft Store and other digital retailers in the UK. However, a streaming release date is yet to be confirmed. The film is expected to join every other Alien film on Disney Plus, but this could take about a month from its digital release date. We'll update this page as soon as we know more.

If you’re hoping to get your hands on a physical copy of Alien: Romulus, you can currently pre-order it on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD ahead of its release on 2nd December 2024 in the UK. Fans can also pre-order a limited-edition 4K Steelbook.

Alien: Romulus has now been unleashed at home after grossing nearly $350 million worldwide at the box office. The horror sequel is set between Alien and Aliens, and sees a group of young colonists come face-to-face with the Xenomorph, as well as a familiar face from the past and a major Prometheus link. If you missed it at the cinema or just fancy a rewatch, Alien: Romulus is available to rent or buy digitally now from Prime Video, iTunes, Microsoft Store and other digital retailers in the UK. In the US, you can buy or rent Alien: Romulus from Prime Video, iTunes and more.

Following its release in cinemas in August, writer/director Fede Alvarez responded to the controversy over the digital recreation of the late Ian Holm for the new role of synthetic Rook. "We were not trying to do what can't be done, which is to reproduce that person's talent as an actor, because this is another character," he explained. Alien: Romulus is now available to rent or buy digitally from Prime Video, iTunes, Microsoft Store and more in the UK.

After a successful run in theaters — and just in time to creep you out for Halloween — Alien: Romulus is now available to rent or buy on digital streaming platforms. The 20th Century Studios follow-up to Ridley Scott‘s 1979 classic Alien and James Cameron‘s beloved 1986 sequel Aliens was directed by Fede Álvarez, who directed the micro-budgeted 2016 horror hit Don’t Breathe. The logline teases, “While scavenging the deep ends of a derelict space station, a group of young space colonizers come face to face with the most terrifying life form in the universe.” The digital release comes packed with supplemental extras, including a feature on how Álvarez opted for practical effects over digital wherever possible — including a close-up look of how they brought the creepy facehugger aliens to life. Alien: Romulus is Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes with an Audience Score of 85% and made more than $349 million worldwide, the second-highest-grossing film in the Alien franchise globally. The film comes to 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD on Dec. 3. 20th Century Studios is a division of ABC News’ parent company, Disney.

Fede Alvarez's franchise revival, Alien: Romulus, is now available to purchase on Digital platforms, and Fandango has officially released an extended preview spotlighting what might be the most intense few minutes of the movie. In the clip, we see Rain Carradine and her makeshift crew arrive at the seemingly abandoned and decommissioned Romulus space station to salvage some fuel for their journey to a more hospitable planet. Unfortunately, they soon find out that dozens of face-huggers were in the process of being transported in stasis, and are released when Andy tries to access the ship's computer. While Andy, Tyler and Bjorn fight for their lives against the relentless creatures, Rain and Navarro attempt to plug in to the remains of an android only to realize that Rook - the same model as Ian Holm's Ash from Ridley Scott's original Alien - is still kicking. Check out the preview at the link below, and let us know if you plan on watching Alien: Romulus again (or for the first time) on the small screen in the comments section.

“Not a perfect organism, but despite an overreliance on retreading over old ground, Alien: Romulus does mark a thrilling return to form, and is surely destined to be ranked as the third-best Alien movie,” we said in our review of Alien: Romulus. "The sci-fi/horror-thriller takes the phenomenally successful Alien franchise back to its roots: While scavenging the deep ends of a derelict space station, a group of young space colonizers come face to face with the most terrifying life form in the universe."

The film stars Cailee Spaeny (Priscilla), David Jonsson (Agatha Christie’s Murder is Easy), Archie Renaux (Shadow and Bone), Isabela Merced (The Last of Us), Spike Fearn (Aftersun), and Aileen Wu. Fede Alvarez (Evil Dead, Don’t Breathe) directs from a screenplay he wrote with frequent collaborator Rodo Sayagues (Don’t Breathe 2) based on characters created by Dan O’Bannon and Ronald Shusett. Alien: Romulus is produced by Ridley Scott (Napoleon), who directed the original Alien and produced and directed the series’ entries Prometheus and Alien: Covenant, Michael Pruss (Boston Strangler), and Walter Hill (Alien), with Fede Alvarez, Elizabeth Cantillon (Charlie’s Angels), Brent O’Connor (Bullet Train), and Tom Moran (Unstoppable) serving as executive producers.
