It is the first real headline clash of the year in La Liga, and it promises to be a scintillating night of action regardless of what happens. Both Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid will see the opening months of their season shaped by the first Madrid derby of the year.

While points could be dropped in the prior matchdays, there is a good chance that the two sides arrive at the game four points behind current league leaders Barcelona, meaning if either side drop points, then they will feel somewhat adrift.

Los Blancos and Los Rojiblancos are both unbeaten so far this season, but the former have not hit the ground running with the addition of Kylian Mbappe, and Carlo Ancelotti has been less than pleased with his charges so far. Reportedly considering a change of system for the clash, Ancelotti knows that defeat will set the alarm bells ringing, while a win would give him space and time to continuing adapting his team to the arrival of Mbappe and the exit of Toni Kroos.

That will require something they did not manage last season in two attempts – beating Atletico Madrid at the Metropolitano. Real Madrid were victorious in just one of their four clashes last season, which just two of were settled in 90 minutes.

Simeone too is experimenting though, and with Julian Alvarez, Alexander Sorloth, Antoine Griezmann and Angel Correa all vying for places up front, only the Frenchman looks comfortable so far. El Cholo will no doubt be wrestling with his natural caution and the attacking talent he has at his disposal for the derby.

Getting Tickets For the First Madrid Derby of the Season

If, understandably, you’re desperate to be there for the match, then there are various routes to consider, although the easiest may be to go through a third-party ticket website. Atletico Madrid have put their tickets up for sale for members, but have already sold out the stadium, with capacity attendance expected.

Meanwhile you could also seek out VIP tickets, but even those require a phone call, and there is no pricing information currently available. Real Madrid do not have any information available about attending in the away section, but that will be restricted to members too.

Going through third-party websites, the cheapest tickets are at LiveFootballTickets.com, who begin their prices at €120. They also offer a 150% money-back guarantee on their business, and a 4.8 rating on Trustpilot, which suggests they are one of the more reliable operators.

Other websites are currently more expensive than LiveFootballTickets.com, with Stubhub starting at €150 per entry, while going with FootballTicket.net‘s prices begin at €162. Fans interested in going to the game are advised to snap up their tickets as soon as possible though, with few expected to be available the closer the game gets.

Looking Ahead

While there is plenty of time for both teams to improve their form before this massive game, this is the type of match that will define the early stages of the La Liga season. The result will also have a significant impact on the morale of both sides and could shape their approach to the rest of the campaign. Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid will be looking to build on their early season momentum and establish themselves as contenders for the title.

This derby clash is sure to be a tense and exciting affair, with both teams boasting strong squads and a history of fierce rivalry. For those lucky enough to be in attendance, this match will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. But for those who can’t make it to the Metropolitano, there will be plenty of ways to watch the game and experience the drama of the first Madrid derby of the season.
