Khruangbin have announced their biggest UK headline performance to date with a huge open-air show taking place at London’s Gunnersbury Park on Friday 15 August 2025. The Texas three-piece will also be joined by special guest TV On The Radio, who have recently announced a highly anticipated return to live shows.
From the get-go, Khruangbin’s journey has been emphatically its own: a sound and visual representation with few precedents, ignoring pop expectations, relying only on internal inspirations, and a multitude of visions. It’s a mindset of penetrating the self, connecting to the surrounding world and modelling your own life experiences – something which will come to fruition when the band take to the stage at Gunnersbury Park in London next summer.
Earlier this year they released their new record ‘A LA SALA’ – described as “a porthole onto the bounties powering Khruangbin’s vision and a reimagining and refuelling for the long haul ahead” – and have begun to embark on a seismic global tour alongside an extremely busy festival season, wowing audiences across the world.
Also appearing at Gunnersbury Park alongside Khruangbin are revered New York, art rock outfit TV On The Radio. Having recently announced theirfirst live shows in five years and a 20th anniversary re-issue of their seminal debut album ‘Desperate Youth, Bloodthirsty Babes’ released next month, this new, unmissable show announcement marks another exciting development in the band’s trajectory.
Heralded as “the most innovative band on the planet” by AV Club and “one of the most compelling American rock and roll stories of the modern age” by the BBC, TV On The Radio have proved themselves to be one of the most influential bands of the decade by consistently confounding expectations whilst managing to balance respect from critics and peers alike.
The Biggest Show Yet
West London’s Gunnersbury Park has become established as one of the capital’s favourite outdoor venues and will play host to a series of day shows offering an eclectic mix of music genres in August 2025. In 2024 the park hosted stellar, 5-star appearances from PJ Harvey, Peggy Gou, KoRn, Tom Grennan and FISHER, with more brilliant shows set to be announced for 2025.

## A Stunning Show Khruangbin are set to perform at London's Gunnersbury Park next August 15th, joined by special guest TV On The Radio for the giant open-air show. The trio, who have 6.8m monthly listeners on Spotify, released their new record A LA SALA earlier this year and have begun to embark on their global tour alongside an extremely busy festival season.
## The Origins of Khruangbin Comprised of members Laura Lee, Mark Speer and Donald “DJ” Johnson, Khruangbin's origins trace back to 2004 when Mark and DJ met while playing in the gospel band at St. John's Methodist Church in Houston, under Pastor Rudy Rasmus. Their collaboration began after a chance meeting in a bar, where Mark's musical knowledge impressed DJ. Mark and Laura crossed paths in 2007 through mutual friends, bonding over Afghan music and Middle Eastern architecture. By 2009, Laura started learning the bass with Mark’s help, and not long after, they both joined Yppah on tour, which cemented their musical bond. The trio’s name, Khruangbin, which means airplane in Thai, highlights the wide range of global influences that inspire their music. Their breakthrough came with Bonobo's 2013 tour, where their track Calf Born in Winter featured on his Late Night Tales compilation.
## The Rise to Stardom Khruangbin's debut album, The Universe Smiles Upon You, released in 2015, explored the rich history of Thai music from the 1960s and established their distinct sound. In 2018, the band released Con Todo el Mundo, drawing heavily from Middle Eastern influences, particularly from Iran and Spain. Their music continued to receive acclaim, with their 2020 album Mordechai marking another milestone. The trio maintained visibility with live performances, including notable appearances at various global music festivals and tours. As of 2024, Khruangbin - whose sound is often described as a mix of Thai funk, psychedelic, and dub - continue to draw in crowds worldwide.
