If you didn't see your favorite Tex-Mex restaurant on any of these lists, checking their social media pages might reveal special offers. Many restaurants announced their deals through various platforms, such as Instagram and Twitter.
The History of the Margarita
Believe it or not, the margarita isn't even a century old. Its origins are shrouded in some mystery, with several competing claims to its invention. One story credits Carlos “Danny” Herrera, a restaurant owner in Baja, California, who created the drink in 1938 for Marjorie King, a dancer in the Ziegfeld Follies, because she was reportedly allergic to most spirits except tequila. Another tale points to Francisco “Pancho” Morales, a bartender in Mexico, as the creator in 1945. Yet another claims Tommy Hilton (of the Hilton hotel family) brought the drink to his hotels after discovering it in Acapulco, Mexico in 1948, even naming it after Margarita Sames, a Dallas socialite who supposedly created the drink at her vacation home.
Regardless of its true origins, the margarita—a delicious concoction of tequila, triple sec, and lime juice—has become a beloved cocktail enjoyed worldwide. Since 2008, we've even celebrated National Margarita Day every February 22nd.
