EA Sports has released its latest major title update for College Football 25. This latest update touches on every aspect of the game with a few larger fixes for players. Some of the biggest changes with the new College Football 25 title update includes the ability to save custom audibles across all game modes, a tuning to the wear and tear system, zone coverage has seen AI improvements, schedule fixing in Dynasty Mode, and even adding new plays to a number of playbooks.

On Sept. 19, 2024, EA Sports unveiled its latest update to College Football 25. From bug fixes to AI improvements, the update should enhance the game’s quality of life … but that’s not all.

New uniform pieces were added, and we’re ranking the top five.

On top of adjusting the 2024 season versions of uniforms for Texas State, Liberty, Georgia Southern, and Jacksonville State, EA brought us — count ’em — 22 new pieces for the following programs:

While they were all welcomed additions, five stood above the rest.

In truth, this one should’ve been in the game from launch, but we’ll take its late arrival. The red bandanna represents Boston College alum Welles Crowther, who died while helping others to safety during 9/11.

To honor him, the Eagles wear white uniforms with “For Welles” on the nameplate and a red bandanna pattern down the sides and inside the front and back numbers.

Who isn’t a fan of all-black kits? Several programs saw theirs added to College Football 25, but Fresno State takes the cake. From the matte black helmets with the “Bulldogs” script on the side to the red-and-white Mountain West logo on the breastplate, there is no cleaner all-black uniform in the game.

Colorado State’s “Ag Day” orange uniforms receive all the praise, but the team’s “State Pride” unis are just as eye-catching. In 2017, the football program turned heads with a new uniform that incorporated the colors of the Colorado state flag instead of the school colors. It’s all white with the blue-striped flag patterns on the sleeves, down the pant legs, and down the helmet. “State” features prominently across the front of the jersey, and one side of the helmet proudly displays the red and yellow “C” from the state flag, while the other side has “State” written in bold blue block letters.

In September 2022, Georgia State debuted some of the hardest threads in the sport. Their black jerseys have white numerals and blue sleeves, and “Atlanta” is emblazoned across the chest. The black pants feature a wide blue stripe, and the black helmet has blue and white stripes down the middle and a black facemask.

The Lobos may be 0-3 on the field, but at least they get a dub here. Their all-gray alternate isn’t the best, but the new away alternate? Chef’s kiss. Silver helmet with a red facemask. White jersey with red accents and turquoise numbers and logos. Standard away red bottoms. But why turquoise? In 1967, the New Mexico State Legislature designated turquoise as the state gem due to its cultural significance dating back to the ancient Puebloan people.

After not appearing in the initial release of EA Sports College Football 25, the video game has now unveiled the Red Bandana Game uniforms for the Boston College Eagles.

The Red Bandana Game is a tradition at Boston College played annually with special uniforms that turn the lettering into the pattern of a red bandana in honor of Welles Crowther.

Welles Crowther was a Boston College alumni, having played lacrosse for the Eagles, and a volunteer firefighter. After leaving college, he got a job as an equities trader, working in the South Tower of the World Trade Center.

On September 11, 2001, Crowther helped survivors of the attacks exit the World Trade Center, carrying one woman on his back for 17 floors. After dropping her off, he then made his way back up the tower to the 78th floor, looking to assist others. Amid the haze and smoke, he was seen to be using a red bandana to cover his mouth. He was seen in those moments putting out fires and administering first aid. He then assisted another group to make their way down the stairs.

Welles Crowther was last seen alongside members of the FDNY climbing up the stairs, looking to offer aid to whoever else he could. His body would not be found until March 2002.

Since then, Boston College has worked hard to celebrate the legacy of Crowther. That includes the Welles Remy Crowther Red Bandana Run 5k, which is held every October. Then, on September 10, 2011, in a game between UCF and Boston College, both teams decided to honor Crowther with red bandana helmet stickers.

Later, in 2014, Boston College wore special Red Bandana uniforms in a game against USC and every season since then has worn the uniforms to honor the legacy of Welles Crowther.

For head coach Bill O’Brien, it’s his first season at Boston College. However, the Red Bandana has already had a major impact on him.

“That is something that I have not experienced as a coach, obviously, but have heard a lot about and have seen the game on TV. What it means, let’s just start with the Crowther family. Welles Crowther. What he did on 9/11 was something you can’t even put words to it. He’s a hero. He’s a hero in the sense that he saved so many lives. He did it while wearing a red bandana that he wore as a lacrosse player at Boston College,” O’Brien said at ACC Media Days.

“Means a lot to alums, but also people around the world. We’ll play Michigan State this year. Our guys understand the meaning of the game. These guys have played in the game before, so they really understand it. It will be my first experience coaching in the game. But it’s a very special game and a very special memory of Welles Crowther that we memorialize for that game.”

The Red Bandana Game will be played on Saturday, September 21st against Michigan State. It’s bound to be an emotionally charged game for Boston College. Meanwhile, fans of the video game will now finally be able to use the special alternate uniforms.
