Rugby legend Simon Zebo has tied the knot with his long-term love Elvira Fernandez for a second time, having originally wed back in 2022. The elegant affair was held in the Spanish city of Altea on Saturday.
The couple, who first got together when they were just 15 and 16 years old in Cork, share four kids together. Jacob, nine, eight-year-old Sofia, five-year-old Noah, and Isabella, who is two, were all in attendance for their parent's big day.
Elvira looked every bit the blushing bride as she donned a strapless floral-detailed wedding gown, equipped with a sheer skirt to beat the Spanish heat. Simon swapped out a traditional black suit for an airy option, opting for a crisp white shirt and a sandy-coloured linen suit instead.
The pair first got married in an intimate ceremony at the five-star Sheen Falls Lodge, where only 22 of their closest friends and family attended due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Speaking to RSVP Live in 2022, the Munster man detailed the pair's struggle to work around restrictions. 'We were actually waiting on restrictions to stop, some would stop in France, and some start in Ireland and vice versa.'
'So we just decided on a small ceremony first to make it official and we will go to Spain next year to do the big day', Simon added.
The Second Time Around
The pair met as teenagers when Simon spotted Elvira while she was in Cork studying as a Spanish student. The Irish rugby legend paid a touching tribute to his wife when announcing their romantic Eiffel Tower engagement in 2019.
'Last night was special. My childhood sweetheart said yes. From the bushes in Blackrock as 15/16 yr olds to the bright lights of Paris as parents of 3 beautiful children. Love you forever eva my queen', the 34-year-old wrote on social media.
The couple's second wedding was a much larger affair, with friends and family from both Ireland and Spain in attendance.
